New monitor for A1200

Any suggestions for a decent but cheap monitor which would work with a A1200?

I was using composite -> SCART into a LCD panel and it looks utterly shit.

Or use a proper upscaler like an OSSC.

RGB->Scart looks quite good my tv even seems to flicker fix the interlace modes First time I've used Super-High Res Laced without my eyeballs bleeding... shame it uses so much precious chipram and updates like a turtle towing a tanker...

NEC 1970VX and RGB to VGA adapter. Can't get any cheaper than this.

I'm getting RGB->SCART in the hope one of my current panels syncs ok to it.

Thanks for the NEC multi-sync VGA recommendation I'll keep an eye open for one.

If all else fails I'll get myself a doubler!

Weeelll, it doesn't "fix" it, more like it destroys it, showing you both frames at once, kinda looks very weird and broken.
Sure, it doesn't flicker, but it doesn't really cut it either.

Benq BL702A and its bigger brother are perfect. Get them while they last.

Internal Indivision Scandoubler is a great purchase.

If however you want an external scandoubler that you can use on any retro console or computer, go for the gbs-8220. Thats what I just ordered, I be using it with my composite modified Sinclair Spectrums and megadrive as well as the Amiga. It not a bad piece of kit, and will upscale composite to VGA and has an internal flicker fixer.

Comparison:

GBS-8220 Vs. Scart Vs. Indivision Scandoubler

If you care for image quality, stay away from the GBS-8220. Bought one for a friend - it's one of the worst images I've ever seen. Composite is probably better.

Tested it on multiple TVs and Monitors too... It might be that I've got a faulty unit (not sure) but even so, that means getting a good one is like winning at the lottery

A proper RGB SCART cable will surely look a whole lot better than using composite and if you are using an LCD TV (it must be if it has SCART), you should have a good chance of it working.

GBS-8220 can be okay, but it can also be quite bad with weird colors and noise so it's a matter of luck and on how much you are willing to mess with it to get it working.

The ultimate solution is the OSSC and any decent LCD with HDMI or DVI input, but it is not the cheapest solution out there.

I use an RGB to SCART adapter on a 21" CRT-TV and the quality is very, very good. Highly recommended! All games, demos etc. looks awesome. You can probably pick up a CRT TV for free and give it a try!
