It's a bit of an old thread this but I would really like to know which versions are virus infected before I find out the hard way.
Thanks in advance !

Certainly in the TOSEC games dat, known infected disks are marked with a [v] flag. Of course, that doesn't guarantee that they are the only infected disks around...

Old thread i know

Well, if you like music there are two programs which are essential

To rip modules from files / memory you can install Exotic Ripper

To play the modules you ripped you can install Eagle Player

Both programs can be downloaded from aminet

HippoPlayer is a must-have, in my opinion.

Nice thread.

Wasn't sure what is good or bad. Like 30 years since I have been active and never give it a thought in that time

If I'm not into ClassicWB but wanna do a setup from scratch what programs is nice to get for setting up WB with different menus, background etc. ?

Further to Weaselrama, what I use nearly daily:

  • UHCTools (particularly for aminet without opening a browser)
  • Roadshow TCPIP
  • DOpus 4
  • Current IBrowse
  • SGrab
  • EvenMore
  • AmiTradeCenter

There's more out there but I'd say these are essential for me.

From recent times I must say: GoADF!

Aminet has been there for 25+ years and that's where all Amiga releases should go, be they OS3, OS4 or MorphOS.

The SynergyClient in UHCTools is awesome!
They won't release source so I've started writing my own. I'm using Barrier which is a fork of the open source bits of Synergy. It's working nice.

Have you seen Lazur's gallery? Proof that 16bit art on the Amiga didn't have to be all jaggedy edges. He created these artworks on the Amiga but I'm not sure which app(s) he used. They sure are gorgeous, though.

Yeah, if we are getting into application territory, I will also add Imagine and Cinema 4D.

Just a quick question, and I don't mean to hijack the thread, but how do you typically get the Roadshow installation files over to a new machine without using floppies? The LHA archive is between 3-4 MB, so how do you get it over to a new machine to install it on? Assume that the machine in question has a fresh install of 3.1 or 3.1.4 and nothing else besides maybe the LHA executable and DOpus...

Bunch of options spring to mind:

  1. Use another TCP/IP stack (I was using Miami as bundled with OS3.9).
  2. Null modem or Parnet cable transfer
  3. CD-Rom
  4. If you use CF or SD you may be able to mount the drive in UAE (I wouldn't recommend this though and would back it up first)

If you have an A600 or A1200, a PCMCIA-CF adaptor is a good option too. Fat95 and compactflash.device are two packages I would consider essential on a new installation for that reason - they make transferring everything else so much easier.
