EOTB 2 transfer party? WHDLoad

Hi,
I've been searching all over other threads to see about a straightforward way to transfer my party from EOTB1 to EOTB2, I'm using the CFOU ones, WHDLoad. I'm new to all of this AGA emulator stuff, so I'm not super technical.

I did try to copy the EOBDATA.SAV file from my "Hard Drives/data-vga" folder in the first game into the second game, but that didn't work.

Any insight would be much appreciated.
The most recent thread I could find on this is from 2006, I think.

I hadn't such problem, but i was playing normal (not WHDLoad) version.

Try with normal version then after start of game save and switch back to WHDLoad version where load this save. If this works, then it's WHDLoad slave fault to not support transfer of save (not preloading save file?).

Thank you for the response.
I am new to Amiga emulation, but I've been doing some research recently...when you say "with normal version", do you mean with FS-AUE ? I'm a complete noob.

Looks like I have to do some homework

judging from what I've seen so far, I might be in over my head with this.
It seems pretty complicated.
I've come across this video: [ Show youtube player ]
where they spend the first part of the video transferring the party, but it still seems over my head...
I do not have any experience with Amiga, or it's emulation. I'm mainly here because I'm an EotB2 fan, and discovered this version of it, and since found EotB1, played the WHDload version, but to crossover to the second game, it seems I would need to get an Amiga emulator, or Workbench, partition disk space (??)... I might just look into alternate routes for this game.

Wanna have a simple step-by-step guide ?

Start new game in eob2.
Save the game.
Quit (with whdload version it's important).
Locate eobdata0.sav or similar named file.
In that same directory, copy your eobdata.sav file.
Run eob2 and try to import your old party.
If it doesn't work, report problem to whdload slave author. It should have worked.

thank you meynaf
I think the way you outlined it makes more sense to me now. I appreciate it.
I'll let you know if it works

hmm, no it doesn't seem to be working.
I'm wondering if it's possible that my final eotb1 game did not save after beating the game?
The final animation ran, and at the very ending, I clicked the mouse and the game appeared to quit(or crash?) and I did not get an opportunity to "save" the finished game. I wonder if that's supposed to happen automatically.
I will send an e-mail to cfou!, or perhaps they will see this thread and respond.

IIRC EOB1 does not save the game when you finish it.
However you don't need to reach the end to import the party into EOB2. So if you have a save game, this should work.

well
I've tried what you outlined.
Started an EOTB2 party/game, saved it, then quit.
Located the EOBDATA.SAV file in the

/Applications/EyeOfTheBeholderAGA.app/Contents/Resources/Hard Drives/data-vga Folder

copied it and pasted into the equivalent folder in the EotB2 game

when I go to import the party at the main menu, I get the same image from the above screenshot that says

"please remove EOB1:
from the drive."
I'm sure I'm just overlooking something simple

Looks like it's the whdload slave...

Do you have a file named "EOBII" (or something similar) in your eob2 folder ?
If yes, could you try to run it directly ?

there is a file called EOBII-AGA , no extension, though.

How would I run that directly ? sorry for lack of technical understanding.
Perhaps I should clarify. I am running these games on a MacOS and found them on gamesnostalgia

https://gamesnostalgia.com/game/eye-of-the-beholder
and

It is EOBII-AGA you have to run. It is main program. This is how to run "normal version", as mentioned before.
This can only be done from within the emulated machine, running normal Amiga OS.

I'm not sure how to get this file to run
trying to get FS-UAE working...not exactly straightforward.
I'm wondering if anyone could point me to a resource that would outline the easiest way to run that file?
or
If anyone is familiar enough with FS and could give me a few tips/what the process would be for getting the EOBII-AGA file running?
I will continue to watch tutorials and read up in the meantime.

let's say hypothetically I could get FS-AUE running on my mac, how would I run the "normal" version of the game with the files that I have?
I see no .ADF files in the EOTB contents

You don't run it from the mac, you run it from the emulated Amiga.
And you need a full Amiga setup for this : kickstart, workbench, etc.

Adding to what Maynaf said:
You must run game from AmigaOS Workbench, just like You run applications on MacOS. Amiga files could have files (especially execs) without extensions. When You enter directory under WB all should be clear - there should be icons. I don't know which version You have, but my version (and also original version from CFOU) have two different icons - for normal and WHDLoad version of game. You should run this "not WHDLoad" version.

About ADFs these are floppy image files, like ISO (etc) are for CD/DVD images. AGA version is hard disk only and there is no ADFs exist (AFAIK) with this version.

You could use MCE to edit your EOB2 party to match the EOB1 one.

Didn't MCE not only needs full OS install, but also OS3.9 version?
Sorry, but more comfortable is just move party between games.

Not mention it could be WHDLoad version bug, which should be corrected...

Yes, OS3.9 is required, but presumably he has that by now: it has been available for 20 years :-D
