Iridium - shmup development thread

Iridium is primarily a horizontal scrolling shoot em up (due to the size of the levels there is some up and down movement). It's loosely based on Uridium but with a generous sprinkling of extras from other great games such as Xenon2 (out rigs / shop) and Nemesis (orbs / lasers).

It has been in development off and on (around real work) for a while now. This is the second version as it looks nothing like the pictures on my web site as that version just didn't quite work (due to needing to see ahead further). This may be developed again at a later date

Originally it was just me (code/design) and Invent (artist) but now we have been joined by Akira

Due to the amount of graphics, levels and general added extras at best its going to be a Christmas 2017 / Spring 2018 release (Steam Direct)

First video release of the new direction Iridium is going in.
(I just got back to it after a gap due to health and family issues)

I will be uploading a new demo video later tonight. It's mainly a recode of the 2d rendering system. However there are new graphics for the launcher, homing missile and gun turrets as well as a new glow effect and slightly more intelegent enemy fighters.

I would like to say a big thank you to Invent who is an amazing graphics artist. As well as thanking Akira for getting in touch about some tunes (love the Amiga Acid mix).

Hah! Ive completely missed this game

Very nice music, graphics and gameplay!

As I said in the M.A.C.E thread, Shoot em up games are what Ive enjoyed the most, so looking forward to this game for sure.

The Logo and scrolltext got a nice Demoscene Vision Factory vibe to it.

I REALLY liked the soundtrack change at 1:44. Good job Akira!

Xenon 2 weapons update

Player can have anywhere between 0 and 4 out rigs.
Each can be a different type.
Currently there are rocket, missile and beam variants.

After months of fighting with myself (creatives, pff! haha) over the tunes for Bastich's project, I finally have sent him a bunch of tunes that will be the basis of the game's soundtrack!

I'm excited to see the final product, the WiP videos are really cool.

If I ever get a Vampire there maybe an RTG or similar version.
Unless anyone else is interested and wants to try and do a cut down version (with my help).
I have a friend that is interested in doing an Android version in the future.

Excellent work Akira, very groovy Tracks, will be playing them while designing the other levels (thanks Bastich)

Send the team a Vampire card and I will be very happy to sign up for a conversion.
Graphics is progressing, head down, no time to reply in forums
