In the end it is just a super fast accelerator.
In the end, you are playing it on a Raspberry Pi with the Amiga as a frame buffer and input device.

So, pretty much like any high performance amiga... that existed back then in 90s, why is that any different now?

You are confusing it with vampire standalone. ALL amiga chips are still in play with pistorm, pistorm is a CPU replacement, it plugs into CPU socket and it IS a 68k compatible cpu... if you don't see that then there is no help. I am really tired of people like you who are either too stupid to understand what pistorm is or just trolling around. EAB has become a really hostile place now... it used to be a place where people could enjoy amiga in a lot of different ways, but now it is just bashing other people and their work on every step and every thread.

People like you are taking all the enjoyment out of it.

That's not how the PiStorm works. I recommend learning about the PiStorm first before posting such comments.

Used to get the same with the vampire V2, when it was just a CPU basically and all the amiga custom chips were still in play.

Guys, why the hell do you hate the PiStorm so much? It's literally like any accelerator from the 90s, and I don't see what's wrong with that. If you really wanna act like purists, then you should say things such as "Only a stock Amiga 500 is a true Amiga, the others are all fake!"

I've heard such things before. It's not funny.

Actually I say that about the A1000.
The 500 was already a lame fake.

(and on topic: of course you can play it on whatever you like. I for myself can do that for 25 years on emulators on my PCs and Macs now. And even on a real Neo Geo for a year now.
Question is where is the challenge in that then..

Unexpanded A1000, may I add?
Everything above 256kb Ram is cheating.

Someone is currently working on a new, non-Cannonball version of Outrun for AGA systems. The project seems extremely promising, but there's a little catch...it requires a 030 and fastRAM. However I think it's the right price to pay in order to have a good port on Amiga. There's some people who think using extra RAM and an accelerator counts as cheating? Well, they're free to keep playing any of the other racing games on the platform, or straight up emulate Outrun via MAME. It's always nice to have the freedom of choice even when it comes to gaming, you know

Yes yes, of course.
Who am I to tell people how to spent their free time...

I can only argue how I, me, personally, think about this issue.

I mean, of course you can kind of solve every IT problem with enough CPU power and RAM.

Yeah, most applications/programs are bloated as heck nowadays...I think programmers forgot the art of optimization

That's a very nice fantasy there !

Unfortunately, in the real world, programmers aren't allowed to do optimizations during regular dev. The project managers don't care, the architects care even less.

And it's absolutely ridiculous to expect that the business will spend one day more on optimized code, unless it's a pre-approved requirement to ship the deliverable.

And since there's code review process, you cannot hide the "optimized" version either.

If you think you can get away with providing estimate for an optimized version (instead of a smaller estimate for unoptimized one) for more than a month - let me know how your job search is going after 2 months

The companies are incredibly good at pretending they care about fast, optimized code when hiring and doing the coding interviews. None of those optimized coding examples ever make it to the reality...

You want optimized code ? Write it yourself. On your own dime. At home.
