XJ220 with a PS2 steering wheel

I picked up a PS2 steering wheels and pedals at a local car boot sale, and decided to see how it worked on the Amiga via the Cyclone RX adapter.

I fired up XJ220 and it worked really well!

The pedals didn't work because accelerate was on the circle button instead of the cross, but a simple firmware tweak would have sorted that.

You should give Microprose Formula One Grand Prix a try. It will accept analogue controls for steering and if your pedals act as up and down, accelerating and breaking will be analogue as well.
It's a totally different game with analogue controls.

Cheers I'll give that a go this afternoon.

Does anyone know, did they make steering wheels for the Amiga? I can't ever remember seeing one.

I own of these Flying 2000 System control levers. That's probably the closest thing to a steering wheel that comes to my mind. Tbh, it's utterly useless for racing games, but it's not too bad for flight sims supporting analogue input signals (Knights of the Skies, etc.).

I know there was something like a motorcycle handlebar for the Amiga/C64 as well, but I have no idea if it was digital or analogue.

btw: Is your Cyclone RX adapter working with a C64 too?
I'm sure there will be some interest in the product at Lemon64/the C64 community. Unlike the Amiga, the C64 might be damaged by Sega Megadrive/Genesis pads due to some overvoltage (or something similar, I'm no eletrician).

I did get someone to try one with his C64 and it worked to a degree, but there was a weird thing happening with the keyboard, "ghost keypresses". I never took it any further than that.

I don't know how you handle the output pins on your microcontroller, but if they're driven high / low (as opposed to high-z/low) don't connect it to a C64 - you run the risk of damaging it. (Pins on the joyport are shared with the keyboard matrix, so if the µC drives pins high, there's a risk of bus contention.)

Yeah that's what I suspected so I decided not to go any further until I purchased a C64 myself for testing.
