I'd say the chance is slim to do it from scratch since it would be a big job. Probably an interesting job, though.

any idea whats going on with mp3 playback? its not that its broken, all my mp3's actually play perfectly fine, hip only seems to crash (sometimes) when stopping/moving to the next song, so something seems to break/freeze workbench when ending or changing to the next mp3 rather than going berserk during playback.

Is there a specific version of Hippo which does this? Is AHI enabled?

latest version(s) and yeah this is with AHI enabled, havent actually tried without in ..... a while tbh, i should probably try without.

There's a chance that the issue in question is actually a bug introduced in v2.46b, and fixed in v2.49: hanging when stopping playback with AHI enabled.

psids working nicely, AHI still locks the system when swapping/changing tunes, i'm using version 4.18 (because i think you need that for the fast ahi routines?), disabling AHI for now and all works ok. (I use AHI/toccata for FS-UAE for all audio where applicable)

Maybe someone else can try the new hip and see if AHI crashes for them?, feedback from just me in that area doesnt seem all that reliable.

There was some bad behaviour in hippo. It did AHI deinitialization in a different task where the initialization was done, which luckily seemed to work with some AHI sound drivers, but not Toccata. Correcting this seemed to fix the problem with FS-UAE+AHI+Toccata for me.

One thing I don't like in players in general, is that you can't have at the same time random play AND play the first 5 minutes of each song, looping the song if necessary, for example. Maybe I explained wrong?

Hi koobo, I would like to report that HippoPlayer "all versions" on AROS 68k crash the system.

I found out that the reason is the incompatibility with the native Reqtools.library AROS 68k.

If I use a native OS3 Reqtools.library it works regularly.

Unfortunately it still crashes for me when stopping the player while playing through AHI.

Not sure how useful it is but captured this with muForce

Press the play button, select a module (Global Trash by Jesper Kyd in my case), wait for it to play
