Hooooo Speed (fps) issues

Firstly, thank you Toni for your continued effort on such a fantastic piece of software.

I have been using the 21r2 since its inception as this has proved most compatible for me. I recently moved to your latest release and all worked well on my work pc

Celeron 1200 - 512Mb ram - Geforce4 mx440

However, my home pc has problems with this release. In 68040-jit mode everything runs as expected yet 68000/680ec20 I can not get more than 28fps. I have tried every conceivable configuration setting to no avail. Running in opengl/directx makes no difference. I have changed display drivers etc.

Home pc

Pentium 4 2.4 - 512Mb DDR - Geforce Ti4600 - Sb Audigy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as you have produced an amazing product that I enjoy using.

Thank you for your time

Try turning off CPU idle detection.

CPU Idle detection is only meant for using Workbench not playing games.

My PC is quite a bit faster than yours, but when I put CPU Idle on, it slows right down for me too.

Ian,

Thanks for your recommendation but I have tried every combination of settings to no avail.

Using Windows XP Pro as OS on both machines if this is of any extra help in sorting issue.

No that's no help, I use XP too, and I missed the bit about your second PC too, take about needing to wake up properly in the morning

Unfortunatly I can't reproduce your problem here as the speed is fine, WIndows XP isn't the cause though.

Unfortunatly I think someone else with a P4 will have to help you out here

I have more or less the same system as yours and winuae is as fast as it was a couple of versions ago (meaning no speed problems). I use millennium and the latest nvidia drivers 40.72. Maybe your problem is a driver issue. try upgrading your drivers (if you haven't done so yet).

I did have speed problems myself after I reinstalled XP (bad choppy sound, slow speed etc). After installing up-to-date unsigned graphics card drivers and unsigned sound Blaster Live 5.1 drivers everything was running good again.

What if you select "fastest possible" or adjustable instead of A500-speed? (A500-speed uses different timing code than other modes)

Toni,

Thank you for your reply.

I have tried this and it makes no difference. The only time I can get 50fps is with 68040-jit enabled or 68020-jit enabled. Previous versions of WinUAE work fine though exhibit other issues that your latest version solves!!

Regards
