CMPRO DAT File

How can I create a actual dat file for clrmamepro from the xls files i downloaded from the caps project page?

Or is there a person which makes these dat files. I only got a version from November 2004 ... it seems that it is a bit outdated.

1. Open artefacts-cm.xsl with a text editor (Notepad/Wordpad will do).

2. Read the comment at the top of the file telling you how to create the cmp dat

Basically, you need to open artefacts.xml & replace the 2nd line down :-

<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="artefacts-html.xsl"?>

with

<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="artefacts-cm.xsl"?>

Then double-click to run the file (will probably load into Internet Explorer), and you'll see the contents of a CMP datfile. Now all you need to do is save the text as a .dat file.

It's excatly the same principle with RomCenter if anyone still uses that.

I've also attached a CMP file I just created with the CAPS XML database.
Attached Files
File Type: zip caps-cmp.zip (108.9 KB, 139 views)

Well I`m coming to the save point in IE 6. But when I say save to ... (with .dat as extension) the Explorer saves it as a normal XML list.

Maybe there is something wrong when I try to make such a list.

You could always cut & paste the text into Notepad/Wordpad/other text editor and save from there.

Thanks for explaining that idoru. Yeah, you need to use Select All, then Copy, then Paste when using it with a browser. There are XSLT command line tools which would generate the file for you, but a browser is certainly more assesible.

They are the DB file that CLR needs to properly rename and catalog what you have and what you are missing from any given set.

You just copy/past the zip or unzipped file into the Profiler window.

Then you can create a folder to store this set into, I use the name inside the datfile itself.

Then use the rebuilder process to create the set
