What do you think about cute games? Like them? hate them? What's your favourite ones among them, and why?

I have a few favourites, but I'll tell what they are later..

Never really thought about it

Rodland was cutesy and cool
Mayhem In Monsterland (C64) was cutesy and VERY Cool

um....They're the only 2 that are floating around right now

Cute game? Rainbow Islands of course

I especially like the bubbles (?) coming out of Bub or Bob when they get hurt (I'm not going to say 'killed' in such a cute game

) by an enemy.

I also thought Creatures had fairly cute graphics (Well maybe not in the torture chambers).

I'm afraid there weren't many cute games on the Amiga. I think my favorite cute game would be rainbow islands, which by strange coincidence crashes as soon as the screen should scroll down on my Amiga.

Oh yeah, Parasol stars could in some aspects also be considered cute.

Is it just me, or except for creatures weren't all the cute games conversions from the arcade? or at least what should've been arcade (Was Parasol stars ever released as arcade)?

There's also Qwak, Robocod, both "Amiga originals" , and they are both great. There's also Wiz 'n' Liz, that came from the Mega-Drive

I think Fury of the Furries is also rather cute too.

And, of course, Trolls. Trolls sometimes get a higher cutesy rating than Rodland or Rainbow Islands (And those are already in the limit of being cute)

Shame I don't know any cute'em up for Amiga. There's any available?

But, after all this, for me the most cute game ever, one that makes you want to puke for being SOOOO cute, is a game called "Rolo to the Rescue" for Mega-Drive (From Vectordean, the same creators of James Pond).

Everything in this game is too damn cute, the heroes, the enemies, the bosses, the music, the SFX, it makes you want to give the game a big hug, bring it home and make it happy.

It's great also if you have a girlfriend who hates your computer games, show her this one , and she will go like "oooohhh, how cute this is.."

I think Superfrog and Nicky Boom I & II were cute games, too.
Especially Nicky Boom's 'Hoppla' sounded very cute when he found a secret passage

My sister always thought Lemmings were cute and she always wanted to maim me each time I killed the little bastards

Rainbow ISlands, Bubble Bobble and parasol Stars are greate cute platformers, Rodland was great too, and there was Quick teh Thunder Rabbit, and.. cant remember more.

Super Gem 'Z was kind of cute too.

Now on other platforms, Super Bomberman 5 is mega cute and bloody fun, and then you also have the Magical Drop games, and, of course, Compile's brilliant Puyo Puyo series!

Dang, Shatterhand! I have to agree with you...I have never seen anything so cute in all my borned days! It's so sweet, I get cavities looking at the screenshots.

You also mentioned many of my fav (platform) games...Robocod, Wiz 'N' Liz, Trolls and Fury of the Furries (which is not only cute, but brilliant!). A couple of others that are cute and on my favs list are Car-Vup and Soccer Kid.

And since I didn't post in the fav platform thread, this is my list.

I have the Megadrive version of Bubble and Squeak and it's quite nice. A bit slow for my liking but still good. Surely the meega version has killer music, no FM synth garbage to mess around with.

And you just saw screenshots, you have to see the game running. The music and SFX helps a lot to build the cute atmosphere. NEVER before I felt SO sorry for let the main hero die in a game. The sound it makes, the face he makes it, it just makes me go like "ooohh, poor little elephant....."

Fury of the Furries is indeed brill, one of the finest games ever.

I've played a demo of Quick, and found it SO rubbish. Titus is crap, their only good game I know is Lamborghini American Challenge.

Akira, I actually liked the music of Bubble and Squeak on the Amiga. I remember I played the game music in the background whenever I wasn't playing the game.
I'm beginning to understand why my parents looked at me so weirdly at times...

Hmmm, I wouldn´t call Rick Dangerous a "cute" game really, it got no overhyped color grafic nor does it look very sweet or something ..... the grafic is really dark and also the music doesn´t fit in those cutie image ! But it´s a great game anyway

Now I come to think of it, there aren't that many cute games on Amiga. I think the Japanese are really specialised in it.

Here is my list of favourite cute games on Amiga:
1. Flood: This game is cute in a raving-mad sense of way: A hero named Quiffy who kills enemies with extremely large guns and napalm bombs, teddy bears with jaws in their bellies and a cute-looking ghost-aunt whose only mission is to drain Quiffy's energy. -one of my favourite Amiga games;
2. Bubble bobble-Trilogy: Each game in this trilogy ( Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, Parasol Stars) is so sickingly sweet, I really need to see a dentist. They are all classics.
3. Tearaway Thomas: This fast Sonic-wannabee has all the ingredients for a cute game: Irritating jolly music, cute enemies and no blood'n'gore. One of the speediest games on Amiga;
4. Robocod: Why has nobody mentioned this game? If I think of 'cute' I think of this game: It has really irritating childish music and enemies you really want to 'hug'. Even the hero makes the noise of a teddybear when hit.
