Clean DAT file

Hello all,

New to Amiga emulation and wondered (if allowed) if there are any Clear Mame Pro DAT files that i can use create what i call a clean set? That is not multiple copies of the same game many times with cracks/ hacks various versions.

Any helped apreciated. :-)

Hello there a7mag3ddon,

Welcome to EAB

That would be very nice I indeed but... unfortunately a DAT like this is almost impossible.

There are sooooo many Amiga games and as you know there are multiple alternate / hacked / trained versions of the same game. For example take Beneath a Steel Sky; this is a possible combination:

... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 01 of 15)(0).adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 02 of 15)(1)[cr DLM].adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 03 of 15)(2).adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 03 of 15)(2)[a].adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 04 of 15)(3).adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 05 of 15)(4)[a].adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 06 of 15)(5).adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 07 of 15)(6)[a].adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 08 of 15)(7)[a].adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 09 of 15)(8).adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 10 of 15)(9)[a2].adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 11 of 15)(10).adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 12 of 15)(12)[a].adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 13 of 15)(13).adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 14 of 15)(14)[a].adf
... Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)(Virgin)(Disk 15 of 15)(Boot)[a3].adf

Unless you want to go through each game yourself, test as far as possible (to completion ideally) your best bet is to use something like GameBase Amiga where people like Belgarath have spend many painstaking moons trying to get 100% working sets

I myself stupidly don't use GameBase Amiga and I can tell you I've spent more thank a year on / off configuring 1200+ games for collection. This has involved a lot of testing / research etc and there are probably issues with some of the sets I've chosen...

Ahh I see, thank you for that info. The reason I asked because I recently read about mighty bomb jack for Amiga and I went to play it and it was missing from my games. Tosec is 31GB and is far too large for me to download for just the games.

I now have that game so all good however it make me think, what other games are missing :-)

That's weird; must be a really old archive that you mention above. Mighty Bombjack has been in TOSEC for ages; since v0.29- 14/05/09:

For individual games that you are missing best to look on:

... the EAB File Server: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=43633
... PlanetEmu: http://www.planetemu.net/roms/commodore-amiga-games-adf

or ask here and I'm sure someone will be happy to assist

Yes I collected them along time ago (2000 maybe?). I only update when I find a game I am missing.

Perhaps. I read about the game in a new magazine, I never realised it was out :-)

Original is much better in IMHO

You probably already know this; to look at / search for various games that have been released on the Amiga go to these 2 websites:

... http://hol.abime.net/
... http://www.lemonamiga.com/

And for games that weren't ever released:

If it's a fairly well known game and it's not in GB Amiga then it's quite often because I think there's an issue with the available adfs, I remember I wasn't happy with the Mighty BombJack adfs but I can't remember why now..

I came to the same conclusion originally when adding for myself Belgo. I think from memory it was something like Bombjack went behind the background and it didn't feel right...

I tried all cracked .ADFs, then got hold of the .IPF and the same thing occurred.

Anyway, I'm using "Mighty Bombjack (1990)(Elite)(M3)[cr SKR - FLT][t +3 Skillion].adf" and an "A500 1.3 ROM, ECS Agnus, 512 KB Chip RAM + 512 KB Slow RAM" configuration (though I'm sure OCS will also work fine).

I assume you are talking about TOSEC in archive.org.

There is a multiple ways to leech what you want from there.

From simple use of Firefox + DownThemAll addon to scripting downloads with wget. (Covered that with mags, little modification to edit it for other purpose - http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=75880)

Simplest way - go to archive.org - and check what is inside ZIP archive and download files you want without downloading whole archive.
http://ia801607.us.archive.org/zipvi...2012_04_10.zip

If you have DownThemAll - first time download Using DownThemAll! and once you set where to download, just right click - dTa One Click files you like to download.

WIth dTa you can even import list of files you like to download.

That is exactly what I tried (and failed) to explain - you can download single files from TOSEC - selected single files.

Glad you solved your problem by downloading no-intro set.

I had a quick look again and I think my main problem was I wanted the +8 version as that has a levelskip which would be great for testing the game, except I couldn't get the levelskip to work..
