Software stopped working

Hi guys.

About an hour ago i was playing Clown O Mania on my 500 until i got frustrated and stopped playing.

Went back a few minutes ago to play again and now i get the error message

"Not a DOS disk in unit 0"

Retry and Cancel don't do anything and i'm stumped as to what i can do to troubleshoot this problem.

Any help would be much apreciated

Your disk should not be write-enabled.

It may be error made by old virus (Saddam?) or some files were damaged by saving highscore.

It can't be. The amiga has no hard drive to store files on and the software has never been traded, cloned or even played until today

If the files have been damaged by saving high scores, is there any way to recover them?

Clown O Mania, at least the ADF I downloaded, is a NDOS disk which means it has a custom bootblock which makes it readable to the game code only. AmigaDOS cannot read it.

Now the custom bootblock has been replaced by something else which behaves like a standard bootblock, i.e. it starts AmigaDOS and AmigaDOS finds that it cannot read it.

This is most likely a bootblock virus. It can be any bootblock virus not just Saddam and there are hundreds.

If the disk was an original, it is destroyed for good now.

If it was a copy of an ADF, then you should write the ADF back to disk.

But first make sure that your Amiga is no longer infected. Switch it off and after switching it on, boot it with a disk known to not beeing infected.

And always put the write protect switch on for every disk you insert and open it only if you really want to write to it.
