Curiosity

Hi all!

In the process fof reviving my A1200, I noticed a 40-pin connector just "above and to the right" of the ROMs: I am curious to know what it is used for? Also, why is there a place for a chip just "below and to the left" of the ROMs?

Sorry in advance if these are noob questions that have been answered 1 trillion times, I just could not find the answers

Cheers!
Yann

Absolutely no idea, I've wondered about that myself.

It's for an FPU.

The answers are in the A1200 schematics.

It wouldn't be worthwhile doing, but just out of interest could you solder in a FPU there or is there other necessary components missing?

Well, I don't see why not - the connections seem to be there and the 020 is designed to work with an 881... But you're right, it's of fairly limited use, especially with no fast RAM.
