While i am working on the 32mb simm, i have been tinkering with the board playing whdload games and some software. Playing whd is perfect, but i have a question regarding doom. I just installed adoom for testing purposes and it plays very well for a 030, but when i have a while playing, the game will freeze and a sound will came from the speaker(bzzzrrrrrrr). I have touched the processor as i have the trapdoor open and it is very hot, you can get hurt if kkep the finger on it. Should the doom prob i listed because of overheating?. I know that in summer all computer components become more hotter, but not know if it affects too much the Amiga.
Thanks in advance!!!

@TheCrow

030's run toasty any way, and when you put something as CPU intensive as DOOM... its gonna get roasty hot.

The system Hangups are a symptom of overheating.

I would seriously recomend some passive or preferably Active cooling if you can fit it in you computers case.

I think the reason could be that this board has overclocked processors
as reported by Amiga resource (from 40 Mhz to 50 Mhz)

http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/apollo1230mk1

Sincerly I have no problems with my Blizzard 1230/IV with full 50 Mhz 68030, however I've no FPU (but I don't believe DOOM uses it) and only 16MB.
You could have a bugged DOOM version. I would try some long and heavy demos. You can find many of them WHDLoad installed too.

Ok, thanks to both of you. Now it seems time to go and butcher an old pc for heatsink and/or a handy fan. Since it is in the original desktop case, can you reccommend anything to increase the height of the case(like some custom legs i hear of another people here) and of what material?.
Thanks in advance!!!

well to add active cooling, you wil need to slightly modify the trapdor a smidge to allow for this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Video-Card-CPU...QQcmdZViewItem

and to affix it to the CPU, use this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3M-Thermal-Sti...QQcmdZViewItem

Power for the fan can come from the FDD +5v (RED)

.

Personally i would think about modifying a laptop heatsink / cooler and modify the case. but thats a little more work.

Nice suggestions. These 3m thermal stickers are the same compound as thermal paste of bigger processors like x86 Athlons or Pentiums?

@TheCrow

The thermal grab pads (stickers lol) provide heat-transference similar to thermal past / putty, although not as good, still good enough.

The 3M thermal grab pads will provide better than adequate heat-transfer to an active cooling solution on an 030

and an active cooling solution will help increase the working life of the 030 accellerator too

What would you suggest for 060 accelerators Zetr0?

I have a small heat sink from an old PC graphics card which is about the size of a CPU - I was wondering if this would be of any benefit to fit... what would be the best way of "sticking" it on?
