Trying to get a REALLY OLD Kickstart switcher to work

This VERY early Kickstart switcher (probably called the DKB MultiStart I)came with a ROM version of Kickstart 1.1(!). It is split across four 27C512-equivalent Mask ROMs:

U4 = EVEN LO

U5 = EVEN HI

U6 = ODD LO

U7 = ODD HI

There's a couple of pictures of the device on The Big Book Of Amiga Hardware; they can be viewed here.

The other ROM socket appears to be for a standard 40-pin 16-bit ROM. I have no clue where the clip goes or how the ROMs are switched. The connector going into the motherboard's ROM socket is missing pin 10, which is listed as "chip enable". I have no idea whether this is intentional or not.

I tried it out and it comes up switched to the U4-U7 ROMs by default. Attaching the clip to GARY pin 41 resulted in the machine not booting.

Anyone have any idea how I can make this thing work?

I eventually got it to work. I was using it on an A500 that needed the ROM socket pin 1-31 swap and I hadn't done it yet. After I did that, it started behaving perfectly. The clip actually does need to be plugged into GARY pin 41; once that is done the default ROM is the one in the 40-pin socket. I found a jumper that'll let me change that, but it won't be necessary anymore.

I've attached some pictures of the switcher. I used a jumper and header connector to make the pin 1-31 swap reversible.

(PM me or something if you have this thing and need the split Kickstart 1.3 ROM files for burning into EPROMs.)
