Cortex firmware wont update :banghead

Been trying to update the firmware for my Cotex Floppy emulator, but to no avail.

Have installed:
Cortex Amiga Floppy Emulator
1.05A

Want to update to latest firmware so the piezo buzzer on the drive I can use. Went to the authors site:

https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy...irmware-Update

.. and downloaded the firmware. Unpacked the firmware package and put 'FF_Gotek-v0.9.24a.upd' file from the firmware package into the root folder of my USB stick. Inserted the USB stick into my Gotek drive, held down both buttons on the Gotek and switched on the Amiga. The firmware doesn't update as the Selector still reports the firmware as being 1.05A.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here?

This is probably a silly question but is the drive using the Cortex firmware or Flashfloppy firmware. By the sound of it you are using 1.05A firmware which does sound like it is for Cortex use, if that is the case then using the FlashFloppy upd file won't work as you need to first programme the drive with the FlashFloppy firmware.

After that when FlashFloppy has any updates, the newer version upd file will work from the USB stick.

Like I said this is probably a silly question but without knowing for sure what the firmware is.... it needed to be asked.

Firmware identified as:

Cortex Amiga Floppy Emulator

cortexamigafloppydrive.wordpress.com
Brought by Herve Messinger
Firmware: v1.05a

Is their a newer firmware so I can get the piezo buzzer working with the Gotek ? Secondly, can I update the firmware with just a USB stick plugged into the Gotek ?

Hi Hercules,

the firmware can be reprogrammed with/to FlashFloppy via a USB lead connected to your PC and the drive where you put the USB stick into.

The information you need is in the Authors page :-
https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy...re-Programming

You should read the page but basically it also explains that you no longer need to create the .dfu file anymore as that is now included in the firmware .zip

Near the bottom of the page is another link that will give you more information ie:-
http://www.binarydevotion.com/?p=228

You do need to download the ST DFuseDemo which there is a link to under the Download and install PC Software section.

It is a bit awkward if you haven't done this before but when you do it, you will see how easy it really is

All the best,
Allen.
