Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken - HD Installing
I would like to know how to get both Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken installed on a hard drive.
I've followed the instructions in the games manuals, but when I go to play the games, they start up fine, but when they need disk 2, the games will ask for it instead of reading from the hard drive. I've tried assigns, but I still can't get them to work. (Yeah, I know that there are WHDload installs for these games, but I'd like to figure out how to get them running natively without WHDload.) |

Just installed "Maniac Mansion" to HD and it works fine. Make sure you have copied the whole content of Disk1 and Disk 2 to the same directory and all should run fine. |

Open an Amiga editor and make the below start script. Save it into your ManiacMansion folder (i.e. as ManiacMansionHD) and create a start icon with the name "ManiacMansionHD" too. You can move the MM folder to any place. Same for Zak Mckracken. Though you probably get graphics glitches on AGA machines.
Code:
Assign Maniac Mansion Disk 1: "" Assign Maniac Mansion Disk 2: "" Maniac Code:
Assign Zak 1:" Assign Zak 2:" Zak Edit: I've attached the relevant files for both games. Just copy them into the game folders. Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 22 August 2013 at 16:00. |

Can someone upload the directories, or even better, a hard disk image with the games installed properly to the Zone?

IPF is preferred. (English / European versions of the games)
I'll upload later today! Last edited by prowler; 24 August 2013 at 22:19. Reason: Fixed quote. |
