A1200 Graphics Corruption
I have been having a problem with one of my A1200 motherboards intermittently, however it now seems to be a permanent problem. The graphics appear corrupted, lines will appear on the screen and colours are not correct as can be seen in the attached photo. This happens in Workbench and in games. I have tried it without any additional hardware attached and the problem still persists.
What are your thoughts folks? I'm thinking it could be a capacitor issue, but thought I'd get some opinions before I embark on a replacement project. |

Did you try all video outputs (TV, composite, RGB)?

I've been having similar problem with my A1200 composite output only. Unfortunately, I have not been able to identify the problem. Here is my thread:

The graphics corruption is happening on both composite and RGB, even through Indivision VGA when it was plugged into this machine. I checked the ROMs and one did seem a bit loose so I reseated them both firmly.
On first boot after reseating the graphics corruption was still there but then disappeared after a warm reset. Even after multiple cold boots I have not had another occurrance. Strange and random behaviour. I'll wait for the problem to return and see if I can perform more tests then. |

After leaving it for a couple of hours the problem is back, and pushing very firmly on Lisa does get rid of the problem. Good call FOL!
So, what's the permanent fix for this? |

Pushing permanently on Lisa?
Sounds like you need to reflow the connections on lisa... |

Hmmm, well that sounds like a fun little project. I'm not sure if that might be a little out of my league or not. I've done my fair share of console mod chip installs and some minor Amiga motherboard fixes, but resoldering a key chip sounds a bit hairy to me!
