Where the monkey, where??? Erm, where has my beer gone. 8bit, you thieving....

I thought it should have been enabled by default. Yeah, it needs enabling in the ClassicWB because FBlit uses it to render newicons in fastram. It should be quite a bit faster now.

Okay, I'll just run 8 colors and ignore them. It works. .. ...

Yep, v24.

I'm very sure there was an entry for it in user-startup that I manually removed!

EDIT: I'd just like to thank you for your work, ClassicWB is the best "distro" out there

Actually, the speed boost isn't what I use the RTG mode for. With normal Workbench, RTG saves a ton of chipmem when there are a lot of directory windows open.

I only knew it worked after reading the FBlit manual (as far as I can remember).

It does help save Chipram Thorham I agree; ClassicWB also renders Scalos windows, supporting datatypes and programs and many Workbench windows in Fastram too thanks to FBlit.

Thanks for the support 8bitbubsy.

How often do you open drawers anyway?

Don't you use the list launcher, run icon, context menu and/or igame to launch most things? Drawers and icons are so yesterday!

In normal WB it doesn't just help, it makes a huge difference

Indeed. Use DirectoryOpus 4.16 instead. Much better

About the C:Newicons, it you want to remove an item just place ";" in front of it. Don't delete it! Then, when you realise you've messed up, just remove the ";".

The line is:

Run <>NIL: C:NewIcons

....but it is NOT in the Startup-Sequence or User-Startup files as Scalos has native support built in. There is a line referring to Newicons.prefs that is tied in with FBlit in the Startup-Sequence file, hope you didn't delete that!

It's only in the Workbench boot sequence for multi-boot - the "s/WBboot-Sequence" file. It's placed after the ";END MUI" line to add Newicon support to standard Workbench...

Ok, well that bit should read (in the "Startup-Sequence" file):

IF EXISTS SYS:Expansion/FBlit/FBlit
SYS:Expansion/FBlit/FBlit
SYS:Expansion/FBlit/FText
ELSE
C:Copy >NIL: SYS:Prefs/Presets/Newicons.prefs ENV:Newicons.prefs
EndIF

You're more than welcome 8bitbubsy, but we might need to see some ID first.

Have a look under "Quick Links -> Social Groups" at the top of the forum, there you will find the path we walk.

I know this is a very old thread but did you manage to create the 3.1 icon pack by copying over the .info files? if so would you mind zoning it? Thanks in advance...
