Another black developer Amiga surfaces

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Commodore-...-/302416823530

Let's see how much this one ends up going for.

I just hope it goes to some neat computer museum instead of decaying away in a hoarders basement.

Even in a museum I doubt it will be more useful than the CRAY-I in Deutsches Museum (nice to sit and rest on it BTW). And it's untested, so it's not sure if it will work at all. But if it gets upgraded with Gotek, HD interface and some memory, then it will be a nice gaming machine that's extremely rare and cool.

ROM version is 24.60 from the pics, vs 24.61 for the Velvet prototype.

If whoever buys this wants to test it out:
Velvet test boot disk
Velvet ROM-dumping disk

Those disks should work, assuming there weren't huge changes between 24.60 and 24.61.

Think I'll put my A1200 in a wooden case and sell it for 5,000 then!

Looks like that daughterboard has Kickstart 24.60? Would love to have a play with this machine.

This is interesting:

This is system No. D-053 and was sent to a Danish software company who was behind the popular Turbo Pascal programming system in order for them to adapt Pascal for use on the Amiga. It was used for this purpose - although I do not know if Turbo Pascal was ever introduced for the Amiga - and then left on the shelf for many years.
Looks like this Danish software company was Anders Hejlsberg's company Poly Data. Borland licensed the compiler for Turbo Pascal and Anders later worked for Borland to create Delphi. Later he developed C# for Microsoft.

I have fond memories of Turbo Pascal, and used it on my Amiga 500 with an Atonce+ 286 board.

16K...wow!

I understand that it's a piece of history but I actually wouldn't want to own it

I'd rather have a retro computer that I'd actually use..

Yeah, its rather retarded pricing. Altho, some amongst us considers 16 000 like its 160.
In my job Im in contact with people that make so much money, that if they see something they want/like, they can just purchase it without ever looking at the pricetag.

Im well enough off myself, but I do feel the political beast in me stirring...Something about distribution of wealth etc etc

I think only 100 of these were made. Electronics arts was the first to have one of these and if I am not mistaken they used it to write the first Deluxe Paint.

I'm genuinely curious now, what first association did you guys have? :-D

I thought the black developer machines were famous enough.

Well, I must admit that at first I thought the colour referred to the some developer that had surfaced, and not a machine

I had never heard of them. I thought perhaps you were African American and pleased to be reporting an increase in fellow African American developers and their machines. 🤔

What release model this this come before? A2000?

Don't take this the wrong way, but now you almost sound like white American tourists who come to Europe and are surprised by the number of "African Americans" living here

Now who's generalizing 😉 Nah I'm from Europe. The title said "black developer". Nothing to do with being surprised at anything. Black equal rights is very big news at the moment. We're seeing it everywhere. Not such a stretch to think you see it here when you've never heard of that developer machine but have heard of black people.
