If memory serves me right, he's tested the ACA500 with a few different brand accelerators, and made a few tweaks just to make it more likely to work with 3'rd party hardware. A guess would be that those same tweaks have been reviewed in the creation of these beasts. It's just a dumb guess, but he's got the experience, so i feel like he's bound to use it. How, and what hardware that actually would work is still just down to dumb luck.

yes,but he can only make work what he has to hand.
so to make a card work with the aca he has to have it. maybe im wrong,i dont know. but it seems logical. |

I see someone is keeping true to pushing out products just before x-mass. Reliably, so, and it leaves room for every Amiga owners dream. Getting a new toy for Christmas.
I wonder if i can find a cheap A500, so i can justify a ACA500 for my self... Got to look in to that. |

Nope - even the ACA500 is a bit late. I have shipped the first units, but only tiny orders to smaller resellers who do their own manual translations. The bigger shipments will leave either this saturday or monday of next week.
I have a number of prototype PCBs here that want my attention, but I'd like to ship the ACA500 first. Jens |

I'd definitely buy a version of the ACA500 for an Amiga 2000 as long as it works with the accelerator I already have in there.

He probably meant something like "as long as it works with the A1200 accel that I'd l ike to use in the A2k" (would make most sense in this context).

@Jens
I'm just wondering if you have considered the viability of making a new ACA500 style accelerator for the CD32? |

Sure, but FPGAs are still far more expensive than the real things. Also, some people really prefer the "real things", because they don't believe in the accuracy of FPGA implementations. I get that kind of request frequently for Indivision ECS, and only after months of use, people accept that it's really accurate.
Not a good advertising line: More expensive and maybe not as compatible as the real thing. I better look out for more real chips. It's a new business year, and if people don't bid high prices for small quantities of chips, chip brokers may finally realize that the stuff they gambled on is worthless and let go of them for affordable prices. I've already made some good deals last year, and I'm confident that I can collect enough stuff after the tax-writeoff that has surely happened on december 31st ;-) Jens |
