winuae 3.4.0 - cd playback
did something change about playback of audiocd within emulation/winuae?
because cd playback is not as smooth as it used to be in prior versions. i like playing miniarcanoid on workbench while listening to cd with playcd. everything within emulation, fully utilizing the emulated amiga environment. until 3.3.0 it worked well, but since 3.4.0 i encounter some kind of lag spikes. in form of audio-/music-faults while playback is runnning and i play the game. cds are not the problem, there are no errors during playback if i do nothing. these only appear as soon as i'm playing miniarcanoid on workbench. and while cd playback my matrix blanker is very slow as well, also since 3.4.0. configuration hasn't changed for a while now, so what could be the problem? |

Nothing has changed. Did you test older version just now? That is required, something that happened back in the day is not acceptable

i reverted back to 3.3.0, first 10 minutes of testing no audio problems.
so far cd playback in winuae is smooth and clean again as i'm used to. of course i continue test complete duration of cd. edit in ~60 minutes. //edit: no problem at all while testing in 3.3.0, same cd as used before. now i'll do a cross-testing with version 3.4.0 again. definitely having these cd issues with 3.4.0, don't know what's going wrong...
just started cd playback and miniarcanoid again in latest winuae 3.4.0 version. and now there are these audio glitches again, right from the start. |

Config? Logs? Try all 3.4 betas to find when it was introduced. (But I suspect just being edge of not having enough CPU power)

Use binary search to speed up testing
Start from middle point. If it has same problem, halve the lower half of remaining betas and if it does not have the problem, halve the upper half of remaining betas. You'll quickly narrow it down to 3-4 betas. |

@honx
In short: binary search = always choose the middle of the remaining search space to discard one half or the other. |
