Thanks Peter!

I reverted back to the original OS 3.9 icon.library, to 'fix' the iconify bug. I could'nt believe how slow it was

This guy deserve (at least) a beer!

Hope you'll get better soon.

Cheers

Are you guys allowed to include the custom pci.library that supports using video memory as RAM in this?

I am sorry, but we are more focused on the core of AmigaOS 3.9 than just a driver file for non standart upgrade, which is only a small part of a full Mediator install.

Anyway, thank you for your suggestion.

It could be better for BB4 to count on OpenPCI (if they ever play with the PCI-idea)
Supports Prometheus, PowerPCI, Pegasos, GRex & Mediator ....

I have been using exec.library 45.23 for over a month now (installed with Loadresident) and it's been quite stable. So why let an unresolved bug in OS Rom Update (on certain Amiga models only) prevent it's inclusion in BB4?

I agree, I have been using it for well over a month without issue.
Can you have to download, one that includes it and one that does'nt.

Same with graphics.library beta, I have had no problems with it at all.
However it seems its been removed from re-package of BB4.

Ratte I read somewhere that you are in touch with the developer of OpenPCI. Is he continuing the project? It really would be great to have a unified driver system for all this...

Hey Gulliver, are you keeping any kind of changelog/tracking system for these boingbags? Maybe we should setup a bug tracker and throw the different components in there?

@Ratte
The problem with OpenPCI vs Elbox Mediator drivers, is that choosing one, means leaving out the features and hardware support the other one has.
So there is no ideal solution. It seems more reasonable for the user to choose by themselves the option they see fits best for their system. OpenPCI seems a better concept, but, as said before it lacks many things.

@wXR
Your idea of a changelog/tracking system is reasonably good, and has been suggested before. I will see it gets implemented somehow.

@FOL & @SpeedGeek
The problem with those updates are:
-Bugs are still there, despite you havent seen them
-The developer has no objections in breaking Amiga coding standarts that keep things compatible/stable.
-They are closed source

So it is quite a gamble. I chose to stay on the safe/stable side. But, of course, it is up to you what you do on your system.

It appears that BB4 was changed yesterday to a newer revision but I can't figure out by looking at the site or the read-me file what the differences are. It appears maybe something was removed but I can't tell what or why. A proper changelog would be nice.

Wizard.library was removed due to bugs in it. I reported the bug to the relevant coder a week or two ago and have heard nothing back, so it has been removed for now but will return if the bug is fixed. Similarly, lowlevel.library was removed previously, but in that case I got a response: its coder refused to fix it and would not release the source for anyone else to be able to fix it either.

The changelog is always in the Release Notes (http://amigan.1emu.net/releases/notes.rar). But in future, I will also add this information to the readme.

>The problem with those updates are:

The use of direct calls rather than proper function redirection is a bug, for example.

Also I have been told by certain devs (I will not name anyone), that they were considering making their software incompatible with BB4, to avoid getting bug reports caused by faulty OS components, if it was not removed. Which of course puts me in a difficult situation.

This issue also happens with original OS3.9 icon.library (V45.1), not just PeterK's icon.library.

Great project.

Have you considered adding any of these (Aminet):

Titlebar_ic - iconify gadget for AWeb e.t.c.

Ghostbuster - no ghosted icons and option to make WB titlebar appear only when the mouse pointer is over it.

AutoUpdateWB.
