CF card booting in Winuae but not on real Amiga 4000

Hi,

I tried digging for the last couple of days and never came up with a definitive solution for this.

I managed to partition and format my 4gb CF card in Winuae with SFS file system and all is well and it boots fine (200mb boot partition and 4 other partitions) however when I plug it in my A4000 via IDE-CF adapter it is not recognized at all either in workbench (HDtools) or the boot menu.

The led's on the adapter light up so I know that it is getting power but the activity light never comes on. I have not tried external power to the adapter but am just using the 40pin IDE. Have tried changing Master/Slave setting to no avail either. If I hook up my IDE hard-disk to the IDE it is recognized just fine.

Took me forever to get this CF card setup in Winuae and it is frustrating that I got it that far but can't use it in my real migy!

Thanks in advance,
Tim

The 40pin IDE cable does not supply power. You need to connect the external power connector. Only 44pin IDE cables supply power.
