COMP output
What can you actually use it for? I assumed it would be something along the lines of Composite S-Video or something, so I hooked it up the the TV cards DIN Composite input, but I don't get anything (on normal or S-Vid mode).
Any ideas what you can do with it? As the RF Output on it is basically dead. |

err.. composite is not SVideo, so you will want to change that on your PC card.
This outputs nortmal COMPOSITE video. You can use it to connect it to any TV that has a composite video in. |

Yeah, the Input is Composite, it also has a tickbox for S-Video. But from this, it seems to be an issue with my TV card, as it works fine with my VCR.

I guess this won't be an issue since you live in the UK, but havce you checked that the input norm is set to PAL(B,G,etc)?

I'm stumped then. It should work, it works on mine even if I set the incorrect format (it looks wrong but it appears onscreen, and as soon as I switch the meega to NTSC I can see the proper picture)

The only compatible PALs are B, G, H, I and K. All the rest is absolutely different and will not work correctly. Your TV card brings up any of the 20 PAL choices that are compatible. (almost)All europe use teh compatible PALs. |

You can select any PAL decode you want, and they will all produce displays. But, unless it's a compatible decode, they won't be very good
I'd always go for PAL-I if you're in the UK or not sure, as that is the most widespread - BGHIDK are just the compatible versions of the decode However the best result, would be to take the composite sync from the video connector, and combine it with the composite video to give an s-video signal, (might need connecting with 47nF cap to bleed the sync from the luminance) consisting of sync, luminance and 2 grounds - one from comp o/p, one from video conn. If the card supports it (Matrrox and some ATi cards) you could use the RGB signals from the Amiga video to give best possible quality, but make sure that the card can support direct i/p on the 15pin connector... Matrrox G400 and above certanly do. |

"Matrox"
I am refering to a TV card, not a video card, aka a Video Capture card with only Inputs, no outputs. |

fairy snuff then, but some cards can use the 2nd 15pin connector as an i/p or o/p...
Amiga comp out works fine with Pinnacle DC10 and ASUS V8200 comp i/p's set to PAL-I. |

I;ve gota fairy standard BT848-based video capture card and it takes the Amiga's display (though all garbled in PAL, it's a yank NTSC jobbie)

Thats the same chipset mine is based on. (Hauppauge WinTV Prime). I have e-mailed Hauppauge to see if there is something I am missing or doing wrong, but I have little hope.

Don't think of my "capture card" as something big, it's just your standard tv card without the TV sude of things :P. That's why I thought would be nice mentioning.
You get a black display? Have you tried a different cable? I remember once having a cable that would work on my TV but not on the card, probably some impedance thing! |

I don't have any other cables, but I have a feeling it may be something to do with the Phono >> S-Vid Din converter I have to use to plug it in to my TV card (i'll get some photos when I get home, although it isn't anything special).
Being a TV Card, I get a Blue screen rather than a black one, but still, same thing Yeah, I have used Video Capture cards before, we did some stuff on my mates DC10 before. |

Why are you using an RCA to SVideo jack? Your card doesnt have a Composite input?

That really sucks. Probably your adapter is at fault as you suspect!

Just tried my VCRs Scart Output (using a passthrough SCART that also gives phono red white and yellow outputs, and I don't get anything through that either, so it must be the videocard and/or adapter to blame).
