New Cherry MX keyboards for the A500, A600 and A1200

I would preorder a couple of them (to begin with) if I can secure an AZERTY layout (French). Unfortunately it’s unclear if there is a chance to have one so I’d rather wait...
Can someone from AmigaOnTheLake confirm or clarify?
Is it only US layout??

can you post a pic of the AZERTY layout so we can see it. Keys could be printed with lots of variations so different layouts are possible

They're all printed on the back of the A500 manual..

The nice thing about cherry MX is the availability of keycaps that are available for keyboards in many colours and sizes. I dont see an issue with the standard characters as the stores can custom print so for the non standard characters you can provide a .svg file etc and they can make keycaps which wouldnt normally be available for the Amiga

I would preorder two of these, as well with a preference for AZERTY, however if no other option is available the default Amiga Qwerty one is absolutely ok.

Ooh, I'd be hugely interested in getting one each for my A500 and A1200. Especially if I could get black keycaps with the lettering in white/off-white (not too fussy about that aspect, but the black keycaps I am fussy about).

I have never had a failed keyboard but I would imagine it would drive someone mad if they couldn't get one.

I do want / need new Amiga keycaps and if they come with a replacement modern keyboard too then that is cool.

The AZERTY layout should be easy to do, i will verify. Both the A and Q are 1.0 sized keys with just the different angle so they can be printed no problem to coincide with the correct row.

So here is a little bit of news of progress, I received a sample of the keycaps to verify the quality before we commit. Quality looks good so i will forward them to AOTL so he can also look.

Also, the beta version of the A600MX keyboard came today so i have assembled it and put on a set of (typewriter style) keys. Some of the keys are obviously labelled wrong but it is strictly to show how the A600 looks.

The empty slots on either side of the spacebar will not be visible when using an Amiga oversized spacebar. The keyboard is connected to the motherboard by the 32 pin header. All keys and functions are tested ok.

I also checked out the a1000, and other big box external keyboards. There should be no reason why i cant do them also (well, mabbe time is limited atm) but i will probably start after xmas, most of the legwork is done now so it will be relatively easy to do. Using multiple headers on the PCB will allow the keyboards to be used across all big box amigas.

forgot to mention, the keyboard comes with a new LED board witha nice easy plugin cable and not the horrible soldering wires that commodore done

How long till they are actually available? I would like a total black one for my Amiga 2000's I will look at an internal mod so I can run the keyboard out to my 8 port keyboard/mouse/vga switcher myself.

I did forget to ask so edited - are they cherry clear switches? and are they plate or solder mount?

I did read the thread, what concerned me, sorry I don't have time to read all pages of blabbering though and still had a question. It was a valid question, and again, you don't need to be mean to someone asking something How unwelcoming.
