A2000 accelerator
I have two A2000 and I'm looking for a cheap accelerator.Which is the cheapest option to accelerate the A2000?Maybe an 68010 CPU?

A 68010 is probably the cheapest, yes, but also the slowest. Some software will show a small speedup, but in general it won't be a noticeable improvement. Next is a TF530 accelerator, either the A500 version with an adaptor or a modified version for the 2000. This will give you an 030 and fast RAM for far less than classic 030 accelerators typically sell for.

Any original accelerator for the A2K is going to be quite expensive as they are rare. Unless you try to find a later type.
Kipper2k does the 504 & 508IDE and although they do not speed up the computer by a massive amount, they do offer CF HD slot and 4/8MB fast ram. They were originally designed for the A500. The device slots into the MC68000 CPU slot and then the CPU piggy backs on the 504 or 508IDE whichever you chose. On the 500 you have to solder a wire to the Zorro port. The procedure maybe different on the A2K? I have not installed one on that machine. Kipper2k would gladly advise you on how to install correctly. There are lots of devices that can help improve your computer. As for your 68010 question. The speed difference would hardly be notice and in fact you would find that the 010 would be less compatible with certain software. Stick with the 68000 until you find an alternative. You might be able to find someone building the TF range of upgrades, again originally designed for the A500 but I am sure they could be or have been, adapted for use with the A2K. |

I agree with what has been said above, the cheapest option really is the TF530 with a Kipper2K A2000 Co-pro Adapter or a couple of DIP64 sockets stacked to clear components on the A2000 motherboard.
You get a 68030 and optional FPU running at 25mhz + 2MB of really fast RAM, IDE connector SPI port which is in development, should be able to use ethernet or MP3 decoder chip in the future. You can still use other RAM add on cards. But if you stick to either a stock WB3.1 or BetterWB you don't need a mass of RAM. |

I did see someone had refactored the board to go straight into the A2000's processor slot, but never heard much more after - would be a very neat design

The problem is finding one for Sale, also it's still only the 68000 with no ram or storage options just running quicker at 28mhz.
What do you actually want to use the system for? Also do you have any expansions in there at the moment such as RAM or Harddrives etc? |

I have a GVP HC+8 series II with 8MB of ram and a hard disk.I don't want it for something special just a small speed bump.I have other Amiga's for more intensive apps.

My TF534I board will be A2000 compatible. Cheap to build yourself and open source.
