Multiple HDD/CF in Amiga 1200

Have a CD Drive, a HDD and CF Card I would like to connect to my A1200

As I can see there is only one IDE port on the motherboard so I guess I need some kind of adapter to fit on the motherboard to add more than one IDE device.

CD Drive and HDD needs external PS which I already has, so it is only the above I need help with.

Also.. Is there a guide to how to make a A1200 Tower or a best practise for that ?

Theoretically you can run 2 devices on one IDE

But most of us go for a buffered adapter like this:

So it will basically give me 2x3.5 IDE ports and 1x2.5 IDE port
Where is the fourth port

Nope, it gives you 2x3.5" IDE ports *or* 1x3.5" IDE port and 1x2.5" IDE port. The 2.5" port is simply the same port as the primary 3.5" port, so you can use either 2.5" or 3.5" devices on the primary channel. Each channel lets you use a master and slave drive, which allows up to 4 devices.

If I understand it correctly I can use same method like the old pc ide way where you had two 3.5 devices connected to one ide cable (CD and HDD) on the 3.5 port and a CF card connected to the 2.5 port

Yes, provided the CF card behaves itself, that should work. But many CF cards don't seem to like any other devices being on the same bus at all, even if they are on a different channel...

with any other device
