They make this gigantic effort to build this great product, and people react by asking for more features instead of helping to figure out how best to utilize the current feature set? And I don't mean small tweaks like the Atari solution could turn out to be. I can see how that could be harmful for their motivation - at least it would be for me..

The Apollo team have their own roadmap and are already busy with the currently planned stuff probably for a couple of years.
Ppl can dream but I don't think it will distract the team too much from their ongoing plan.
Ppl with big dreams will simply have to learn they will be largely ignored, but at the same time its not fun to shoot down all incoming ideas. From time to time, useful proposals turn up among the casual dreaming ;-)

Really. My first goal is simply to get my hands on a Vampire 500 at a price i might actually be able to afford. IE in the $250 range instead of the $650 Range they are going for on Ebay.

The fact is, the FPGA can be reprogrammed to be just about anything, and I remember we had a 286 Atonce adapter board, and an internal IDE Hard Drive in an Amiga 500 back when I was in collage.

So this is not an impossible, illogical or unachievable goal.
It's just not a remote priority at this time.

One of the most exciting feature of the Vampire is it potential to host alternative cores BECAUSE it is FPGA based.

No one is asking anyone to alter what they are doing now, but when there is little left to do to utilize the full potential of the Vampire as an Amiga, projects like will not only keep the developers interest, but entice customers like myself to purchase boards and keep the project economically viable.

I disagree - the most exciting feature as I see it is that the Vampire already has a very competent core developed for it. Without that, it would simply be a blank developer board and I have seen many projects who finishes the hardware 99%, but never quite reaches a useful level on the VHDL/SW part and eventually abandons the entire project because it is too hard / takes too much time..

...and you think my wishlist will have some effect that could cause this?
I'm nothing but a guy saving up to buy a board. I'm flattered by your dramatic over estimate of my influence.

I still haven't gotten Kipper2k to answer my Email about his external Floppy SD card adapter.

The future of the Vampire Amiga core development with be completely unaffected by me desires.

Can you? There is a pic of a Vamp-500 fitted to an STFM but I did not find any statements that it works... Just that it is being worked on or considered....

There are several Atari users on the Apollo team working to get the 68080 working on their hardware.

Kipper, what about playing FullThrottle with ScummVM? Is that possible with an Amiga 500 or 600?

Sorry if this was already answered but if I have your existing A508IDE @kipper2k will I simply be able to take the CF card out of it and put it in the V500 then boot exactly as before (only 100 times faster!)?

Thanks!!

you need an adapter like this one in the image.
http://s33.postimg.org/rhue7mmgf/v500cf.jpg

#1) attached the image, just in case the imagehoster will go down
Vampire V500 V2 CF to IDE adapter Compact Flash to IDE

#1) can be found at amazon, for example:

Thanks, that's no problem, but once I have that my question is really this: Is the CF Card a straight swap, or will configuration be needed? IOW if I just insert the CF in the Vampire's adapter, and turn on the A500, will the machine boot exactly like it did from the CF HD when I had the CF plugged into the A508?

should boot, since you already have wb/ks 3.1 - vampire will come with build-in kickstart 3.1

#1) you may add a 68040.library to the libs folder, before swaping the card.
setpatch will look for it, if it finds a 68040 cpu. dunno exacly how it would react, if there is none.

The Vampire board doesn't need 68040.library because it is compatible with the full 68020 instruction set. The Kickstart ROM in the Vampire's flash memory is prepatched for the 68080.

Thanks. Any chance you could put the correct one in the Zone please?

Anything else I'd need to do on the HDD?

Edit: Disregard based on the above post.

Thanks!!
