I don't believe it!!!

I've just downloaded Gloom Delexe AGA HD from Back To The Roots and played it for the first time... it's brilliant!!

I didn't realise what's been happening during those years away from the Amiga scene.

Gloom is an excellent and fast paced action game. It doesn't sacrifice gameplay for graphics unlike Breathless or Fears.

The original Gloom was AGA but the Deluxe version is ECS.

I'll have to agree with icewizard. I think it's one of the worst doom clones for the Amiga.

Gloom Deluxe works also on ECS, but with less colors. The Deluxe Version works too on gfx cards, like WinUAE with P96 on a resolution of 1024x768 really fast

Gloom is great when you think of it when it was released. It's a good one today too. But the Zombie Edition was a poor effort, it looks like the zombies are skiing towards you to go for the kill .

The best Doom clone was Super noah's Ark 3D for the SNES.

Gloom Deluxe is a great game. Apart from Doom and Quake itself, Gloom is probably the peak of Amiga Doom clones.

The problem with Gloom is that it's set on one floor. It could have easily been a top-down shooter. No, if anything Gloom is a Wolfenstein clone, not a Doom clone.

I think that the phrase 'Doom clone' has come to represent the sort of frantic first person shoot-'em-up in a 3D texture-mapped environment that Gloom is, rather than being a description of the technical aspects of its 3D engine.

It was also released at a time when Amiga games wanted Doom on the Amiga and has a name that sounds a bit like 'Doom'.
