Best free programming editors for WinXP

I know, it's not Amiga related, but... I was wondering if anyone could recomend good, free to use, and if possible fast programming editors for WinblowsXPee.

Note that I say fast, because I've tried PSPad on my 550 mhz Pentium 3, and CygnusEd on a 50 mhz '030 (!) runs circles around it so bad it ain't funny anymore.

Any sugestions are apreciated

I like Notepad++ as a general and light coding (it's no full blown IDE, so building/running/debugging stuff is more convenient in other tools when you're working on something bigger) editor.

Thanks At long last I can load large (1 to 10 mb) text files normally (so standard on Amigas). I mean, PSPad takes for ever, Notepad is unusable, and things like OpenOfficeWriter (not an editor, I know) also take for ages. Finally solved. Thanks again

Just out of curiosity, any more sugestions?

Thanks to you as well This one at last allowes me to replace large amounts of text in large text files without having to wait ten hours. It seems to do this a little faster than CygnusEd on said config. Great mate!

Still makes you wonder, a little bit faster than CygnusEd when replacing text. The peecee I use is 50 to a 100 times faster than my Amiga. Strange

Thanks guys. I'll be using both programs. Finally my text editing peecee suffering has ended

But... are there any more? Just curious

I swear by Notepad++. I do my main coding on PC in Delphi, which has an excellent IDE, but for anything else I use that and nothing else.

ConTEXT is my fav. Great features, including vertical text selection & user-definable syntax-highlighting. Full notepad replacement, too... this works great in Atari800WinPlus... anything that you print in the emulator goes straight to a new tab in your editor.

Highly Recommended!
