Nullmodem through TCPIP - 4 player games - possible?

I was thinking about having a local event - and playing some kind of competition. Main idea was to playing Lotus 2 in 4 players (through emulation).
I am using mostly Pi4 to for emulation. (AGS, AGS2)

Question is - is possible to emulate an nullmodem between 2 devices (Pi4) to get Lotus 2 working for 4 players (via wifi or lan)? Or is it possible to do it by direct connection between Pi (Maybe direct usb connection or ad hoc wifi)

Did someone get it working?

Add previously discussed it doesn't work. The game code expects low latency and if the connected computer can't respond in time it doesn't connect.
