EAB/Lemon Super League 2017: Round 1 Game Vote

EAB/Lemon Super League 2017: Round 1 Game Vote
Starts: 00:01 January 1 Finishes: 23:59 January 14

As incredible it may seem, we're about to start the tenth season of this competition. Where on Earth did all that time go? And will this milestone be marked with a new winner of the competition? Stay tuned.

NEW - All games played in the 2010 Super League (with the exception of those played in Open Rounds since) can be voted for again in every round.

Rules

Full rules are here.

Vote for five games.

Your first choice gets 5 points, second 4 pts, third 3 pts, fourth 2 pts, fifth 1 pt.

Remember to choose games suitable for competition play. Edited votes will be discounted (unless told otherwise) so think before you post. Please only vote on one board - either EAB or Lemon.

If a game comes in ECS and AGA versions, please state your preference in your vote. In the event the versions differ gameplay-wise, the version with most votes will be played. ECS is the default if you don't specify.

Lonewolf10 won Round 14 last year so he gets double voting power for this round.

Tactical or nosey voters can see the Lemon voting thread here.

For those who missed it, I've now updated the Rules thread with this season's schedule, as nobody seemed to object to our proposed changes for the year. I've also taken the opportunity to update some of the more outdated information within the thread as a fair bit has changed in the last few years.

Oh, and we've had no EAB votes yet... just saying

Well done for being first off the bat. However I'm afraid that Lamborghini American Challenge isn't eligible as it's identical to Crazy Cars III which has already been played so could you change it please?

Hi Graham, I've replaced Lamborghini American Challenge with Badlands.
I think that my votes are now correct.
Thanks!

I'm really glad to see Rock'n'Roll getting some love. I suggested it last year but it didn't get any traction. I did have a method in mind - using level codes we could play maybe 4 or 5 different levels and speedrun them, so we'd post times of each level and add up all the times to get a final score (much like Lemmings). For practical purposes, I thought we could accept a screenshot of the ball overlapping the exit panel as a completion as people playing on real Amigas would only have a second to take their picture after rolling the ball over the exit hole before the time disappeared (when using level codes, you don't get to see the timing score screen - you are taken back to the main menu when completing each level).

I had a few levels in mind as well. I thought level 5 would be a good one to start with as it introduces most if not all of the different gameplay elements, and an expert player can complete it in as little as a minute and a half, so it's a good introductory level to explore, learn and then find ways to cut down your time. Then some of the larger maze levels, perhaps 10, 22 and 32, although I can look into exactly which ones would be best if the mods like (maybe the mods have their own ideas already?). However there are some absolute stinker levels out there. Level 25 is horrendous and Level 29 is literally impossible so we should be picky about which ones we go for. Unfortunately I don't think that level 1 is suitable as there is a shortcut which means it can be completed in 30 seconds if you know it.

Alternatively we could just play for points, but point scoring gems are relatively few and far between, meaning each game would last a very long time going through the same levels over and over again with each play just trying to get a bit further, I don't think that would be much fun personally.

There's just over 24 hours left to vote. It's exceptionally close between several games, and Lonewolf10 is also yet to use his double vote which could shake things up still further...

You really could tell us what games are leading instead of making us waste our math skills

I'll try to participate the WHOLE year this time (less stuff happening in 2017 I believe), but I must admit some of the games receving votes really makes me want to quit early. Lemon guys need to vote for some GOOD games damn it.

The fact I don't say what they are is a deliberate choice so I don't influence any future votes. It isn't too difficult to get a decent idea though

It's the variety of games we play that keeps me interested, I like it best when a game gets voted in that I've never played before.

I also like when The game played is one I don't know, but it has to be a good one.

Also after years participating on the shmups.com competitions, I sometimes forget not everyone understands half the fun of those things is bitching and complaining, hehehehe

I did not intentionally leave voting until the last minute and, until Harry sent me a PM today, I totally forgot about having double vote power. That being said, my votes are as follows:

1. SuperCars
2. Gods
3. Badlands
4. Chuck rock
5. Uridium 2

It's all over, and a busy last few hours certainly affected things. It was very close in the end. (* = affected by double voting power)

1. Rick Dangerous 2 - 23
2. Winter Games - 21
3. Rainbow Islands - 20
4. Super Cars - 18*
5. Rock 'n' Roll - 17

Total votes: 15 - Total games voted for: 35

So, it's a second fix of Sir Richard of Dangerous for us in the first round of the year. Stay tuned.
