Hello and welcome - Not many Amiga users in India
Youve picked up an Amiga that was used by a cable company?
What kind of software would you like to run?
I think the best thing to use is a CF>PCMCIA

By far the easiest way to do this is with a CF card or SD card.

You will need a CF-PCMCIA or SD-PCMCIA adapter for your Amiga and a USB multi-card reader for the PC.

Transfer the card from one machine to the other in order to copy files back and forth between them.

More details on how to do this when and if you decide you are interested in doing it this way.

@kaushikkalu,

Don't give up. The Amiga 1200 is a fine machine, but it requires a bit of effort to get to grips with it.

It sounds like your A1200 has a hard disk. Can you tell us what software you have? Does the machine boot to Workbench? Do you have any floppy disks for use with it?

If you are starting to learn about the Amiga, try to ask specific questions, as vague questions are much more difficult to answer. And try to give us as much information as you can about the things you have tried to do with your Amiga.

With any luck, we shall soon have you up to speed.

What type of image do you wish to transfer? A graphical image or a disk image?

If you don't want to buy anything, you can always use a floppy disk. Find an old DD (NOT HD) floppy, format it on your PC, transfer the files onto it, insert it into your Amiga, execute the command (using the menu option):
Code:
mount PC0:
and it should appear.

The Amiga being still used in India reminds me of the Sega Master System still being popular until a few years ago in Brazil.

@kaushikkalu
Would it be too much too ask for that "zona photo" software to be uploaded to The Zone. It would be interesting to play a bit with it.

@Cammy
Both in Chile and in Argentina, if you look hard enough you may still find NIB Sega Genesis to this day! I am living in Chile, and use Sega Master system joypads in my A1200. They are so easy to find.

That's awesome, Gulliver! I wonder, are Sega Master System Phaser Guns also easy to find? With a small modification or adapter they can be made to work with all the Amiga phaser gun games installed with WHDLoad (which patches the games to all use the same standard gun). I'd love to make a new shooting game for the Amiga, something like Point Blank or a digitised zombie shooter perhaps.

On the condition you actually at least sometime deliver a demo of such a game, I can send you a Sega Master System phaser gun for free (shipping it free too!).

Just let me know!

Im not amazed there are A1200s to be found in India, Petro himself sent a bunch of them down there and most have probably been sitting in a warehouse ever since. Some years ago, now defunct? KDH Datenteck? in germany bought new magic packs back and resold them for a nice price, i know as i got one of them myself from Gunter was it? and he told me the story.

Problem is, all those old light guns need a CRT TV to work. Today with so many people using LCDs we have a problem...
