Best way of Batch Un-archiving...
Good Evening - another quick question... I have downloaded quite a few demos in .LZX format - I want to unarchive them all in one go into a single directory.
I use CLI Master for simple things like this (probably not the best tool - suggest another to me please...) but CLI Master only seems to want to do one at a time - I think it is because I dont have the "Unpack" lib installed?? (I could be very wrong here)... I use the LZX-EXT command but if I select more than one file to unarchive - it still only does the first one. So what is the best way of doing this and what am I missing do you think? |

You should be able to do this with a 5.x+ version of DOpus. You can pretty much turn any cli command into a batch command with dopus

7-Zip on Windows should be able to do this. Select all the archives and it'll unzip them all wherever you want them to go.

Z-Zip crash's out and say's "not supported archive" which is weird because they are standard LZX files - I will try Total Commander later today - it would be better for me to do this actually on the Amiga itself as I am trying to get away from using emulators - can you still buy DOpus 5 or is it something that someone can point me in the right direction of...
I did try DeArchive from Aminet but got a bit confused... I prefer a GUI front end - basically I am trying to avoid doing them one by one as it will take ages... I think CLI Master will do it but it is missing the unpack option because I dont think "unpack is in my path... |

On Amiga you should use Dopus, on PC Windows Commander. Of course PC has zillions of tools for mass unpacking.. but I prefere WC for everything... like even FTP.

Another vote for Dopus 4 and above Amiga side and Windows/Total Commander on the PC.
As soon as I found out how brilliant and configurable Total Commander was, I went and purchased it straight away. It's VERY reasonably priced and one of the most useful file tools I've ever used on the PC. It's also shareware if you don't want to buy it. |

DOpus 4 is free it comes with ClassicWB
And as for 7zip chucking out an error... might be because of non-windows standard filenames? |

I think 7-Zip was getting confused - but Total Commander has done the job - just downloaded the LZX plugin and bingo - all done !
I will have to get Dopus installed on the Amiga but I guess I proved that the PC does have it's uses... cheers for the advice guys. |

Dopus PC version? I guess all that I have in LZX is the early WHDLoad Packs but KG is converting them all to Zip. Maybe we should point KG here in case he's doing it the hard way!!!
