Apologies to my Amiga.......

Life, a child, work, Winuae........and a heap of excuses and a missus that doesnt appreciate the finer things in life called Amiga.

Its been probably 15 years since my Amiga was permanently setup, a thing in my life when I was younger that would have pride of place over everything else....yes, even the !!

I was going to setup the Amiga in the garage, and that got as far as putting a monitor on a desk and then it being blocked in by copious amounts of crap.

Then I had an epiphany, cupboard under the stairs was warmer, full of crap as well as Amiga and Atari ST stuff......time to be productive.

Lots of stuff hurled out and binned (4x PC's), surprisingly not any of the Atari stuff.

Desk setup, A1200 located and rescued, cables located, TV/monitor located.....and scratched

Old tank mouse located as the new Amikit one decided to die......tank mouse dates back to 1987.....it simply works!

PCMCIA adaptor plugged in (thanks Superduper), CF card plugged in (thanks fitzsteve), Amiga now has a place.

But thats not all , I remember having a JVC amplifier and a pair of JAMO speakers........rummaging in garage releases them from a 15year slumber.

All plugged in....no surprises, it just all works.

Smile on my face as I realise I have for the first time setup my Amiga properly since 2001.....and then I feel a little sad forsaking her so long, and allowing my missus to not appreciate the finer things in life.

No more.......Amiga might be under the stairs, but it has a permanent home.

So, sorry to my Amiga, it won't happen again.

And yes, that is the Atari ST conversion of Recoil working on real Amiga hardware for the first time

Haha! I wouldn't get a desk under my stairs let alone get in myself! And yes women tend not to understand our 'hobby' yet I have to understand the spare room being her 'craft room'!

Galahad, when your Amiga boots up into workbench do you have a custom Fairlight loader which shows the Angeldawn IFF and that noise from the Pinball dreams intro??

I agree, but at least I didn't sell her and since 2007 she has her place in my living room again.

Happy for you and your Amiga, Galahad! i'm sad that you have wife troubles regarding your hobbies. Spending time in hobbies is only HEALTHY to anyone and you should not leave it behind, spend some time on it at least weekly. I hope she can understand it this way (and encouraging her to have a hobby of her own too)

Jesus, I thought you was going to announce you're quitting the Amiga for good, nearly had heart failure!

Better start showing that Amiga some respect from now on then

Christ, i'm still shaking

Galahad, you've been a naughty boy and must be punished. We're gonna lock you up in the cupboard under the stairs.

Superb cable management, Mr. Galahad.

My Amiga is still in box, RPi replacing it on desk.

@ Amigajay - exactly what happened to me - they (wife and daughter) have craft room...
