Silent as a shadow...

Not really a problem, but a query.

I remember I used to have a cracked copy of Shadow Dancer, which I had copied off a friend. It was cracked by Energy. Straight after the cracktro, which provided a trainer, another message would appear; "The Amiga is a secret, Energy is a mystery."

Anyway, the wierd thing was this copy of Shadow Dancer had no sound at all, and you would play in complete silence. I looked for a sound toggle in the game menu and through the cracktro, but it didn't have one.

Has anyone encountered this problem? I know S.D is supposed to have sound, but this copy, which I am playing on my faithful Amiga, doesn't. Could the lack of sound be linked to the cracker? I'm not too familiar with Energy's work.

And BTW, I did have the volume up.

Its a pre release version. When the first playtester version was sent to CU Amiga, they complained about a few aspects of the game, the programmers went back and acted upon the criticism, and then the game was ready for release.

I think Skid Row and The Company eventually cracked the final version, I have never heard of Energy since.

The version you have is a leaked beta release

Twist, as soon as a manage to find/buy/steal/obtain a null modem cable, I'll upload it for you. But right now, my search isn't proving very fruitful.

I might try a few computer swap meets while I still have a few weeks of holidays left.
