genetic species rtg master update
today i read about an update for genetic species which allowes you to play genetic species in a window.
and there should be some picture in picture feature as well. unfortunately all links are dead, none working. is it still possible to download this patch? would like to play in a window without messing with screens. |

Yeah, I think I applied it here: [AmigaCD] Genetic Species - .LHA (for real Amiga users)
Positive there are details about it somewhere in that thread; can't be bothered to look right now... You should though ...or probably on the HOL page under "Notes" |

You do realise that in order to hear the audio tracks you need to:
a) On a "real" Amiga; have a CD-ROM drive present with the disc inserted (and probably software installed / configured correctly to recognise this device / audio tracks). b) In "WinUAE"; doing a full installation as I did is not enough (or from anything you've now downloaded)... You also need to mount the CD-ROM image and then point to a virtual drive via "uaescsi.device" for the CD-ROM device to be seen / utilised. |

at any rate i will backup both workbench .hdf and games .hdf where genetic species is installed,
before i do anything. i think, it's better being overcautious than to repair if things got messed up. |

i applied the patch but nothing seems to have changed.
if i start genetic species, rtg screenmode requester appears. so i can choose screenmode and the game starts fullscreen. i also can't choose anything other than 256 colors (chunky). unfortunately no other options are available in this cycle. so how do i achieve game in a window and 24bit? btw. one thing did change indeed, a positive change: no crash or guru anymore upon quitting/exiting game... game always crashed on exit, but not today anymore! |

@honx
Did you read the Genetic Species patch readme? It states: 'Genetic Species goes PIP! That means you can play your favorite game in a window on your workbench desktop. To do this you need the "Picture In Picture" sublibrary for the rtgmaster API and a Picasso IV, CyberVision or CyberVision3D graphics board. It possibly also works on the Merlin and the Retina Z3, but we are not sure about this.' The PIP sublibrary was released separately from RTGMaster and wasn't included on the Genetic Species game CD (and doesn't look to be in DamienD's LHA archive). Did you install this and are you running the game under a Picasso IV or CyberVision 64/3D gfx card set-up? Last edited by DrBong; 11 October 2017 at 23:03. Reason: Fixed sentence! |

in winuae , genetic species in a window will not work because winuae' Picasso IV driver doesn't support overlay/PIP
