Long time Atari user here..

Have just got a broken A500+ so I can see if the grass is greener over here or not!

Quick question, do I need Workbench disks and if so, can I download and transfer from a pc? Or is it a chicken & egg situation (must have workbench to transfer)?

If you've no software for your amiga at all, you'll need some actual disks.
Workbench 2.something is what you're looking for. I have a set of originals for a500+. If nothing easier turns up pm me and i'll find them.

Coming from the ST, you're in for a treat.

What do you realistically want to use your Amiga for? If its just pure games playing, its rare you'd need the Workbench disks for much of anything.

Well, that didn't take long..!

I'm going to use it to muck about with. I'm more interested in programming and other serious uses than games, although I expect I will load some of the good ones just to get a feel of what it is like. Gotta get it working, first; it's got battery damage.

I have managed to get some Workbench disks and a power supply so I am waiting for Mr Postie now...

Thanks
