Creating custom brushes for ToolManager Docks

I'm going to guess I'm the last remaining guy on the planet that doesn't know how to do this.

I searched forum titles for "Brushes" and only got one hit unrelated.

So yeah, the <filename>.brushes files that are used with toolmanager.
what is the criteria for making my own?
I'm guessing they are not as simple as renamed iff images.

Can I create brushes in DPaint or similar package?
What do I save them as?
Do I need a conversion utility?

etc....

I'm not a big fan of the dock images for Coffin r48 and want to make my own.

I got it sorted.ToolManager under coffin r48 uses PNG files. I was able to load up some of the existing one to use as a template to create custom ones 37x27 pixels.

I'm pretty sure ToolManager uses datatypes to load its toolbar images, in which case it is as easy as adding any image you have a datatype for. The extension isn't important - .brush is just a common extension for brushes saved from PersonalPaint, and can be in any format really. So you should be able to simply add IFFs to the config and away you go.

Yeah, I'm slowly coming to grips with the Amiga way again. I have forgotten much more than I can recall. But that's half the excitement, relearning all this - feels like 1991 all over again. LOL
