I've tried most Speccy emulators and for straight-forward retro game playing, they all do there job reasonably well, including the ability to speed them up which is handy because it's surprising how slow some games were back in the day! If I had to name one, then I'll guess it'll have to be ZXSpin.
I've tried ZXMAK2 but for some reason, once I've opened any Speccy game file (got many in all supported formats), nothing else happens. Still get the Sinclair Research screen. Tried pressing F5 (which is for RUN). Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? |

unpack the demo zip archive and start ZXMAK2 machine setting: VM / Settings / Wizard / ZX Spectrum 48 / Apply tape loading: File / Open... / DZRPTR.TAP now press space to get blinking "K" and type command: Load "" ... it is same as on a real speccy (on my PC-kbd is letter J for command Load and 2x RSHIFT+(the 2nd key right from L) for letters "") p.s. Have found ZXMAX2 currently one of better and accurate (also free) new ZX speccy emu for a PC. recommended others ZX48 demos to test: New Wave -> http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=61133 CRITICAL ERROR -> http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=56765 Last edited by amilo3438; 09 January 2014 at 02:52. |

ZXAM Spectrum should run fine with ACA12xx, it even runs OK on my A600 with ACA620EC
ASP I highly recommend for expanded Amiga's like 040+ RTG/Sound cards as it supports RTG and AHI. I use it on my A4000 with WE040 and CV64/3D/Toccata |

There is one on MorphOS, for those who have ng machines called ACE, and the emulation is superb.

ZXAM on Amiga, ZXSpin on PC and Marvin on my phone.
I personally use my real Speccy's before turning to emulation though. |

I like ASp on Amiga for accurate 128k emulation. I use Spectaculator8 on pc, mostly for its rzx support. It also has the best RF crt screen filter I've seen anywhere if your into that kind of thing. Replicating the yellow tint around blacks.
I do use zxspin for scenedemo stuff that looks best with the gigascreen filter however its rzx support is quite broken. |
