Here's my recollection. The gent at Titan had spoken to Blue Byte and come to an agreement that he could release an Amiga version. As a result he produced the game engine for Settlers 2 for the Amiga. At this point he needed all the sprites and graphics from Blue Byte, as had been agreed. Then somebody more senior at Blue Byte, I think, said (in effect) Why are we still wasting any time on Amiga related projects? No, he can't have the data. Which left the Titan guy high and dry, and I believe justifiably upset about how he'd been treated given the time and expense he had been to. A number of us from comp.sys.amiga.games e-mailed Blue Byte to see if a solution could be found and they released some official response nonsense which basically said the Amiga is not powerful enough to cope with the demands of Settllers II, which is why I run the game under mac emulation and look forward to getting stuck in a lift with said Blue Byte employee.
The Titan chap, and I'm sorry I`ve forgotten his name for the moment, sounded really on-side and at the request of somebody in comp.sys.amiga.games (Joachim?) had agreed to add a random landscape generator, something included in the original game but missing in Settlers 2 on the Mac and pc. As I say, just my recollection, but I think that's about right. |

What would be awesome is that if Bluebyte would release the source of albion
this would allow it to be ported on amiga |
