Micronik A500 Tower Assembly Instructions

Hello Everyone

I am seeking ENGLISH instructions for this A500 Tower system

The instructions I have with it are in German

My System looks exactly like this:

http://bboah.amiga-resistance.info/c...gi?HARDID=1340

I'm glad to say the only difference from these pictures is mine also has a VXL30 with RAM32 installed also

Any help appreciated. thanks.

Post I don't have the manual, but may help...

I just had a Micronik tower for A500, without manual! It was difficult to understand how it works...

I have been able to burn 3.1 kickstart on two 27C400 after many tries using this procedure:

-Use winhex, Tools -> FileTools -> Dissect -> Word-Wise
-choose a dumped 3.1 ROM (if you have only UAE ROMs, you'll have to swap bytes before). I prefer the dumped ROM because you're sure the ROM is working
-now enter the two destination files (391523-tmp.bin and 391524-tmp.bin for me)

-Use winhex, Tools -> FileTools -> Concatenate
-Destination file: 391523-final.bin
-Source file #1: 391523-tmp.bin
-Source file #2: 391523-tmp.bin
-Click "done"

-Use winhex, Tools -> FileTools -> Concatenate
-Destination file: 391524-final.bin
-Source file #1: 391524-tmp.bin
-Source file #2: 391524-tmp.bin
-Click "done"

You should have 2 files (391523-final.bin and 391524-final.bin) of 512ko, ready to burn on 27C400. Burn it, label it, plug it, enjoy it.

It did work for me... (I tried with 1200 ROMs as referenced on the zorro board, without success, maybe an other problem as I had a problem with an oxidized 68k socket, maybe the references are just wrong...)

On the Zorro card, there is a 3 pins "ROM-UM" (ROM-Umschalter which is the ROM-selector). Jumperless will use 2.0x socket, the two other jumpered positions are socket 1.3 and sockets 3.x. The front tower switch permits the 3 positions in this order 1.3-2.0x-3.x (or reverse if cable reversed)

There is also 2 wires which are going from zorro to A500 ROM socket, as seen here: http://amiga.resource.cx/photos/micronik500,1 . On the photo, the "A500 ROM replacement" is socketed instead of the 1.3. It has to be plugged on the A500 ROM socket (yes, NO ROM ON THE 500 MOBO, JUST THE 2 WIRES SOCKET). If your problem comes from this cable, I could open the tower again to tell you where each wire go.

The other points should be easy (for the LED frequency display, watch the A4000 Micronik tower manual).

If it doesn't help you, I hope it will help someone who, like me, didn't have the manual, not even the german one!... I would have loved having those informations in an easier way

Could you scan and upload the german manual? It may help others users too... (it's perfect place should be on amiga hardware database, but nobody uploaded it yet...)

Wink What a cool repository

I didn't knew this website! Huge work done! Will browse my manuals to see if I've got one that isn't on this website!

It's very cool, but I didn't found it via google... And Amiga KBs are great, but not cross-linked... It makes the informations gathering more difficult (and made me burn a few eproms before finding...) when you buy sth on ebay or amibay...

Anyway, that's not the current subject... I hope I helped a bit!
