I've updated my ADF virus scanner for Windows:

Any chance of it scanning sub/sub folders? i.e. if I tell it to scan my TOSEC folder, it doesn't find anything (with scan subdir turned on). It just seems to ignore subfolders completely.

The directory structure is:

TOSEC >> LETTER >> Zips

Should work without problems. ADFScan does not care about the number of sub folders. At least, it should not...

Can you give me some more details ? (operating system, a sample filename with full path, etc.)

The directory I gave it was "Y:\ac\amiga\tosec" and the OS is XP Pro. It seems to scan for ages then say there isn't anything in the folder.

What is "Y:" ? If this is a virtual drive (network, subst, whatever...) it could be the problem. There may be a problem with more than 32768 files as well, but I was never able to confirm that.

Yeah, it's a mapped network drive, although nothing else I have ever used has had a problem with it as it normaly just acts like a normal drive.

42,105 files in 44 folders.

What recognition file did you use windows killer? Your utility is extremely useful.

At the moment, I scan ADF's from within WinUAE using VirusZ or VirusEX, which use the XVS recognition file and other common libs. Obviously this limits performance.

Your utility did find a saddam1 virus on a bubblebobble adf, but VirusEX/VirusZ both put this file in the clear using every scan option available.

Any plans on adding HDF files to the scan?

@Bloodwych: It does not use a recognition file, everything was written by me.

That's a "bug" in the deep scan engine. VirusEX/VirusZ can not find this virus because the infected file is deleted and therefore not accessible anymore. But ADFScan does not care if a file is deleted. Call it a bug, I call it a feature until it's fixed.

It would be a nice feature though if it is not too much work. I have about 1500 .adz files mainly from 1997/98.

It is a neat utility so keep up the good work

@Enverex: Bug confirmed, more than 32767 files are not supported. Fixing this requires a huge rewrite. :eek

Its ok anyway, I have got Virus Z III running now with the latest stuff and its super fast and does all I need anyway. Cheers for trying.

I'll fix it anyway, but probably not with the next version. But I've already added a work-around.

Good news! The 32767 files limit was caused by a list box. There's no way to store more than 32767 entries in a list box so I thought it would need a huge rewrite but I was wrong.

I've removed the list box and replaced it with a self-written class which offers the same functions. I didn't even had to change any line of the code.

Now I only have to collect that many files to make use of the fix! Some of you with broadband must have impressive collections.
