How can I backup my CF?
My CF is formatted for the Amiga and the PC keeps asking me to format it, so how would I make a backup of the CF in Windows?
I want to make a backup of my current ClassicWB 3.1 setup. |

http://news.ide64.org/2008/12/pd-image-creator.html you can use a sata adapter or USB adapter to do the read/write process. Just remember you need 2 identical size CF cards or if you just want to save it you create an image to your PC and if you need it later just restore it |

WinUAE also has a handy button that creates a HDF in the hard disk settings.

Winimage can also be used for this purpose. Can also write the image back to the card.
Fitzsteve made a tutorial here: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...light=winimage |

Nice one, WinImage is really handy for this, I've been using it for a while now to backup and restore cards and it works quite brilliantly, no issues to report so far.
The only thing to remember is if you want to restore it to a new CF card in the future, say this one dies it will need to be the same capacity or greater, ideally exactly the same. |

Notice that if you try to restore the image to a bigger CF card, Winimage will give you an error since it reached EOF on the file before the card was finished. It will work fine however, but you won't be able to use the extra space unless you repartition the card.

I've however had the last partition go corrupt on a card where this was done, I don't know if it was due to just age of card (probably it's a few years old) or whether the Amiga tried to write outside the working space on the CF This is why to be safe I recommend using exact matching media. |
