Help with A1200 RamCards

Hi. I have a problem with two memory upgrades for my A1200.

I have a Power Computing Ltd PC1208 upgrade and also a Microbiotics MB1200z card.

Both have 8mb ram and FPUs.

Now here is ny problem!

1) Neither card will see more than 4mb of ram even though the sims are working fine. Even with an 8mb sim, it only shows 4mb.

2) My Amiga 1200 will not boot with either card if the FPUs are installed.

Do these cards have software that needs to be installed in order to work or do I need some sort of magical jumper configuration.

I am unable to find and manuals for these cards.

Please help!!

Well, the Power Computing Expansion supports max. 4MB, so ......

The Microbotics supports up to 8MB, here are the Jumper settings :

1. ON = TEST
2. ON = 4 MEG
3. ON = 2 BANK

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

I have 1 of these and the button cell, backup battery is dead. The problem I have is, I cant see any where if the BR2032 is a rechargeable button cell or not.

I searched google, and every hit was'nt conclusive. Didnt say either way. Need to know as I have stuck a CR2025 in. Rather know before sticking it in my A1200 and have the Button cell blow up as the CR2025 is non rechargeable.

The CR2025 is definitely NOT rechargeable.

-EDIT- From a quick google search, it would appear that rechargable coin batteries have a "Lir" prefix, ie. Lir2025, Lir2032, etc.

As far as I'm aware the standard memory expansion button cell is not rechargeable. They rely on low current draw and so do not normally need to be rechargeable. I've replaed a few in my different Ram cards with the standard non-rechargeable 2032.

No problem.

Not sure about that. All three of my A1200 expansion cards had flat batteries when I got them (they wouldn't save the time). After an hour or so of being used, they would save the time, and after a few days of being used, the time would save and be maintained between sessions.

Well im convinced now, I just needed to know if the BR2032 was rechargable or not. Its obviously not and I can be happy when i stick it in my A1200.

@FOL

I have just looked at the card (well the Elbox 1208) and from the looks (lots of power inhibiting diodes) that it wont recharge the battery.

@r6stu

SkippyAR is having a similar problem with the FPU, i sent him one to test, alas it wont work in his card.... interesting.
