Modern mouse

Hey there, just finished modding a 'miggy mouse...
This one's an optical USB from now on! Part of a bigger uber-secret (for the time being) project

The USB mouse pcb in there had the same problem, where the original (C=) button shafts wouldn't fall ontop of the microswitches. Thus, i had to desolder the switches and replace them with wider ones (7mm diameter of surface). Also the cable isn't the pc-mouse original; that was a ridiculously-thin ultra-white cable. Had to replace it with the gray you see in the pics..

Thank you for your kind words folks!
@rkauer: There ain't nothing to steal! This is an Amiga society, mods happen all the time..
And i s'ppose that everyone's mods are projected here so that other Amiga fellas can repeat them. It'd be a pleasure to see Amiga mice all around us, and i believe that i ain't the only one with a modded mouse. By all means, go ahead! :-)
P.S. If you don't like the inner glow, a fellow Greek Amigan has suggested to paint the inner case black to reduce "transparency".

My idea is pretty similar but it is Amiga-oriented: sack out the innards of an old tank mouse and screw in a PS/2 + pic controller to have an Amiga optical mice.

No fancy wheels nor extra buttons, just like the original one. And the same cord!

Another hint for the buttons problem: use a small stick of veroboard with the original buttons soldered to it and then you align the conjunct as you wish.

@rkauer:
Yes, you're talking about "modernizing" the Amiga-part of it! Why not? My project was based on the fact that it will give my MacMini a better "feeling" now that MOS is available for it... But that's not the end of my modding, just wait a little while and you'll see! ;-)

Nice mod, but I'd chosen a better mouse to mod (It's actually not half bad even with a ball underneath ... until the buttons get worn down and get wonky! <-- I guess that's your secret and the reason for s2325's comment )

@Photon:
LOL, nah, that's not my secret, the mouse is part of a quite larger project, where i can't use a protocol other than a USB one! And as i always say, patience is a virtue.. ;-)

How about putting a cocolino in an optical mouse, btw?
