Commodore on the rise?

In name only. Engadget has some info. I guess the keyboard computer design was well ahead of its time.

wasnt that long ago commodore were offering custom desktop towers, then they stopped making them, im guessing that failed and now they are trying this?
I like this idea, hope there not too expensive.
I wonder if the onboard graphics is good enough to run winuae, mame, and
other emulators ok? dosn't look like you can add a graphics card

Actually 'new cases' for Amigas and C-64 (C and non-C) could be a lucrative and cool business idea for the brand owners. With some though put into what the users would stuff in it, and some modern slash classic design, they'd sell really well, I think. A good case design is harder than you think, and there's an investment in tools, but the Chinese are good and cheap at thing sort of thing and a clear possibility to sell at a good profit margin, surely.

So basically, they're making a laptop with no monitor? Sorry but this doesnt look like it'd get anywhere compared to the PC's nowadays.

Did you ever own an A500, A1200 or even a C64?

I own a A600.

But nowadays, laptops are incredibly powerful quad core computers, that really are the same size as that thing, and they have monitors.

Commodore did well when PC's didnt really exist, but as soon as PC's had been out a few years they totally blitzed the Amiga's. I think Commodore are going to appear, and get beaten out within a few months.

Let me put it this way : Do you really think it's a Commodore you're buying?

???

Im just saying i dont think the design will work, laptops have long used that design, and this sort of seems like a stripped down lappy. I mean it doesnt have wireless networking, by default, and it doesnt have a screen, they're sort of essentials nowadays, i suppose it all depends on the price. If they put it in at £400 or so then it might do well.

You don't think that a two year old design with a new badge will be more than a niche product? It's solely aimed at people who owned a 'Commodore' and want to remember that by owning a machine that looks vaguely the same. This doesn't have anything to do with a 'new Commodore' taking over a big share of the market, rather than getting some bucks off an old brand name. There were gaming PCs that tried the same and failed with it. And surely that thing won't cost 400 quid with a reasonable equipment.

Hope it's a bit clearer now
