The new CP Retro for real Amigas has no autofire. Just tested the PC USB stick, this is no "real" autofire. You have to press the fire button permanently for an autofire effect. Of course you can use the autofire option in WinUAE too.

You are absolutely right Retro. I forgot that real autofire shoots constantly when you activate it. It's a pity the new CP's for Amiga have no autofire

Best joystick ever.
I also used to have a Zipstick, WICO (Bat handle and The Boss) and a Konix Speedking.
They're all great sticks but the Arcade Turbo is my fave.
For me Quickshot equals el cheapo crap.

I have never understood how people can play games with a zipstik or a competition pro. I mean the buttons are in a funny place and it doesn't have a trigger.

I have always used a mans joystick!

The Quickshot II caters for everything and has a nice 'crack' sound when jolting it.

Great!

Ermh, the Quickshot II is awesome for the "Games" series, but for nothing else.

Second that. It's just a 'wiggle' joystick, but not for real gaming.

"Wiggle-waggle". I hate 'em, and I hate wiggle-waggle games.

Lucky you. I haven't seen any Amiga stuff in Cashies for years..... Maybe I should be checking the skips outside of the pawning/selling door..

I had two of them python joysticks and i thought they were decent! Atari joysticks sucked bad.
Seeing pictures of joysticks made me miss them Analogue sticks not the same!

the right answer is quickshot QS-128 those are very solid and very precise. The CP = pooh (amiga deserves better )

Quickshot 2 > 'The Ladies Zipstik'

How an earth can you play anything with those tiny little joysticks. Why not buy something even more horrible like Konix Speedking.

The quickshot 2 is perfect for 90% of Amiga games. From Xenon 2 to Fire & Ice.

Done and done.

To RetroNerd and CyberDruid. I honestly have no idea what you are on about. What do you mean by "games" series?

The quickshot II is perhaps even crapper than the python. I smell a new thread starting up.

Summer Games, Winter Games etc. The Quickshot 2 has no micro switches, so there are long response times and imprecise controls. You need accurate and fast controls in action/platform games.

I with ya on that one brother! I could never understand either how the hell someone could play with a Zipstick with the way the whole stick is positioned. If you have got small hands it "may" be ok, but with large hands and long skinny fingers like mine, me don't think so!

I will admit though that those kinds of stick "are" a hell of a lot stronger than Python or Quickshot sticks, but with lack of molding to the hand and no real base to hold onto to support rugged quick movement, i just can't see myself ever using one.

I used the 2 button Python 2 with the basic rubber pressure pads through the late 80's and right through the 90's with no microswitches and i managed to complete a Ton of games with such a stick, but it did take A LOT of work!.. prior to that my stick i had those aluminum flexible contacts that always cracked which was pretty much found in all the budget versions of Quickshot joysticks.

Bingo!! Your focus is more on proper controlling than enjoying the games with such a stick.

Well no i did enjoy the games with my Python sticks, my comment was more to do with ripping the things apart because the rubber pressure pads would split on one side, i would have to turn the pads around and use steel wool on the tracks to get a proper response again, so all of that took a lot of work!

The Microswitch Python i have now is great!!. I might still buy a Zipstick and try to get used to it

Hehe funny, my friend had that exact joystick the original poster told about...and I always found it fantastic, but I'm a bit biased, because at the time I was dying in jealousy, as I had a PC and the only joystick we could think of for PC at the time was....

....this kind of crap

Then another friend had 2 of these with his Amiga:

And I recall them as pretty good, once you get used to the two underneath/side buttons that you clicked with your left hand under the joystick, holding it...left hand to hold and click, right hand to move

Didn't have any other experience with Amiga joysticks I think...

Hey just came across this german website, quite a lot of retro pictures, here's the link for you guys

http://www.thosewerethedays.de/

He's got a nice collection of sticks ^^

I thought they were always crap! went through 3-4 of them and they always broke the same way, got a zipstick and competition pro as they are both awesome with a nice sturdy feel and excellent response! They have never failed me. The python felt a bit cheap and got worn easily until it would split .

the python is by no means the "crappiest" that award imo would go to the BUG! what an uncomfortable disaster of a stick!
