I've always been an A500 user and I once wondered whether I should buy an A1200 for a more extended use (WHDLOAD, hard disk, transfer between PC,...) In the end, nostalgy is more important than performance and I didn't want to face compatibilty uses so I kept going with my A500.

For me, the ACA500+ has been the best hardware piece that has been made for the machine, because it allows me to continue using my A500 and taking advantage of more evolved features.

And this will keep me very busy till the VAMPIRE STANDALONE arrives.

That's what I did, then bought an A500+ to cover ECS games.

Then I bought an A570 for CDTV stuff. Then I bought a CDTV.

Then I bought a CD32.

…….

There's a preinstalled WHDLoad games that I think will not make any compatibility issues.

(I found this link in this forum, on some thread)

Just install Whdload on your workbench.... unpack any of the game from above link.. and enjoy.

WinUAE or UAE, A1200, and A500+ in that order... if you are limited on funds or married...

If you are single, or have gobs of money, then ALL + Atari TT/Falcon + Sharp X68000 and all the HW you can fit in your mancave... I know, the grass is always greener but in my situation, WinUAE is my workhorse and fits my needs.

Mancave? I'm in a bedsit (shared accomodation) and I'm 46! I haven't got the luxury of real hardware.

i would say get 1 of each ECS/AGA
but if i had to choose 1 it be A1200 over A500
also you can use your A500 for PC transfers etc just use a plipbox they are cheap
and decent in speed

I've ordered a Gotek drive for the A500. It wasn't always in the plan, but the A500 turned out to have a bad floppy drive - the one amiga disk I still own would not read and the drive was making a bad (worse than usual!) noise. I did consider trying to clean the heads and lube the mechanism, but considering I don't actually own any floppies to speak of any more anyway, a Gotek felt like the solution.

I had to lookup what a Bedsit was and AFAIK the UK has like what 80-90% FREE LAND?! Mate, build yourself a treehouse to make Eworks jealous or something!

I live in a concrete jungle but at least have my own bathroom.

How much I would like a real Amiga again, I'm quite content with my A1200 setup on Retropie under Amiberry. I simply don't have the space for one atm. But without the luxury of emulators, I would go for an a500+ again.
